Isn't the chain tension just a bolt with a nut as a stop? Is that what broke or is the piece that the bolt pushes against on the axel?

From what I can tell looking at a very small illustration, it looks a bit different than than the modern method of a bolt pushing the axle back. It kind of looks like you tighten the nut to pull the axle back, kind of like many bicycle chain tensioners used on singlespeeds and BMX bikes.

Unfortunately, none of the Honda warehouses have the chain adjuster in stock, but with some creativity, I'm sure something can be fabbed up.
I got the tensioner thing, its a whole peice that sits inside the swing arm, i lost the little block off the end though, but with some creativity i made my own. I will check out the warehouse for the axle, the axle is all i need

Yes that is what it is like, the bolt hangs out off the back on the older models

Well, you can't go to American Honda's warehouse (American Honda is the U.S. headquarters for Honda), but any Honda motorcycle dealer can order it. If you have any problems with that, let me know.
