Nothing like hearing a loud metallic snapping sound after passing what was a pretty technical turn. Talk about a million thoughts a second, the first of which is man, is he ok? Turned around and so happy to see him standing erect looking at a "Dead" bike. Now for the 2 1/2 mile HAB.

I had a '99 Stumpjumper FSR XC. Once the stock Manitou started bottoming out regularly I put a Tora 318 up front and add an MPR link in the rear. Made the bike better than new.

I don't know if there is anything behind it, but that happened to 2 of my Manitou forks. After the second one I decided that was the end of our business relationship. Glad your safe.

Nearly all older MRD crowns like that required a plug upgrade did you have one installed?

I never changed the shock, but the MRP Link was a good upgrade and stiffened the rear triangle back up again. It also changes where the pivot point at the bottom of the shock attaches and removes some of the stiction.

I felt the Tora 318 was a good fork for the money and the 100mm of travel worked well with the geometry change from the MPR. Wish I would have done it all sooner as I only rode it for about a year before I got my 6" travel Enduro

Thats a bit a g-out turn, but no hits or bumps of any kind. That surprising it happened there and not in the canyon. Glad to hear your okay.
