For a helmet the giro remedy is under a hundred. I'm getting one next week. elbow's I would get rockgardn. but I'm a little biased toward RG. go to few different place's to see what feels the best to you. protection wise they will all be pretty close.

I can't give you much input on the full face deal, but as far as elbows go, I'm really happy with my EVS setup. They're a hard shell setup, but they fit me well, so I don't notice em too much.

That's funny. I just logged on with the intention of posting this same topic.
I want knee/shin. Are there any pads that are better for those of us with longer shanks? |

A little dab will do me

I had a Bell full face that was pretty cheep new. I crashed real hard and cracked it. Well, more then craked it pretty much down right broke it. But I walked away so I'd say it was a good helmet.
I have a Lazer full face now. Super light and it has taken many beatings. It's due to be replaced and I can't find the same one. My arm looks like it's got a slab of beef jerky attached to it. So yeah, I'm in the market for a new lid and some arm pads too. |

I am built like a 6'1" 12-year old girl and have found that Core Rat leg stuff works quite well. I was not that fond of their arm stuff as it slid (I am sure it is because my biceps are so massive). I use the Core Rate Shinguard and use the Burly Knee pads. Corerat - Product Information The thing I like about them is unlike some models, they are biking specific so the shinpads go all the way to the top of the foot (versus motocross stuff which does not since it needs to make room for boots). As such, they will not move at all, especially with the Burly knee pads. I am sure others work great but I like these. For arms, I am not that crazy about them but they stay in place ok...the Fox 911. For a helmet, if I were starting from scratch, i would get a Specialized Deviant for sure. Pretty much the lightest affordable helmet available. I use an old skool ugly ass green Mad Max and it fits greats so I dont mind the xtra weight. |

ROACH works out good for me, they stay put and offer great protection.

Cool. As far as the $$$ goes its really not an issue. The TLD is what my heart tells me i should get but i like some of the 661 helmets too. For the elbows i checked out the rockgardn stuff and it seems pretty legit. The Full face would also be used for more aggressive trail riding not just dh shuttle runs so weight and ventilation is pretty important.
Also, Ive been using the 661 kyle strait knees and theyre awesome for all around riding. I forget theyre on and they also have side protection which is just as important as the front! |

i usually rock the roach knee and shins as well as elbow but for racing i got the 661 tomcat. a little lighter and less bulky than the KS nkees
would love to see the TLD once u get it

For shins I have the Roach/Race Face pads. I have a 31" inseam, and for me, the Large works pretty well. I don't really notice them when pedaling, and they stay put throughout the day. They get a little warm, but I'm gonna sweat like a pig no matter what, so it don't really matter to me.
