I havent got anything yet. Performance carries only bell full faces(bellistic) which are good for the price($50). Im gonna see if i can E.P. a helmet through Troy lee. we'll see what the price is of the d2. besides im a little tight on cash right now, just built up a new set of chris king hubs(heavy duty version w/stainless steel driveshell and fun bolts) laced to dt 5.1d rims.
Probably going 2 go for the full face in the next month or two. |

I've had a TLD for a while (actually haven't worn it in a few years). The fit is awesome...but...the chin guard is so close to the face, and so it's very hard to breath at slow speeds. If I have to do much climbing, I have to take it off.
I also need to get a new pair of elbow pads. My last set were cut off just before boarding the helicopter last year. Ross, that's cool that you may work at Helens. I just went there for the first time about a week ago, and the guys seemed pretty cool. |

I have mixed feelings about pads.
One of my friends has never used pads decided that he would try them for a practice run at Southridge before his downhill race the following day. He is by far one the the best riders in the area and many of you guys know him. Anyway first time with pads, first time in his long riding career he hurt himself pretty bad...posible seperated shoulder..won't go to the Doctor. Point is that maybe pads give us a false feeling of being protected and just maybe we will do things we should not be doing. Yes if you got it do it please wear pads. I think after my tumble last week on San Sevaine, that on the long rock filled downhill fireroads like Sunset I am padding up. It is just to easy to get up too much speed on those multi milled downhill runs. I get used to the speed and just keep going faster. Dean

dstepper, Were your buddy's pads new? If so, he probably didn't do the new-gear ritual, did he? You have to get new gear in the dirt before you ride. New gear will get in the dirt, and so it's best to do it before the ride instead of during the ride. |
