Default borrowing/renting trailworth bikes for noobs?

So, my 16 year old daughter said the magic words... "I think I'd like to go mountain biking with you. Could we?"

If I had the money I'd go out right now and buy a Hard Rock (or an equivalent Trek or Giant, depending on sales and whatnot). But, we don't have that money right now.

So, anyone have a good suggestion on how to borrow or rent a decent bike? I don't want to get too complicated so full suspension is not necessary. I just want to take her up Marshall Cyn and see how she likes it. She's 5'7" inseam 32".

C'mon, Frank. I've bought two bikes and all kinds of stuff from that place. You think all I need to know was "Incycle"? I know they rent stuff. But, all I've ever seen there is demo bikes and full susp. rigs.

You have experience with renting from there? Prices, etc? That would be helpful.

If she rides a bit and decides to become a "weekend warrior" or occasional rider - Jose is selling his old jamis full susser. I would let you borrow my trek hardtail but I've been using that lately for some stuff.

Well Mr. Gurp, since you've bought 2 bikes from them and all kinds of stuff. I figured you would be more knowledgable with their business. I haven't had to rent from them since I have 4 bikes, but I know someone who has. All the demo bikes you see at the front door are available for a day or 1/2 day rental. As for prices, I'm sure you can negotiate a reasonable price since you have bought a mtn bike and a tar roller.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. After we see if she digs it or not, I might be in the market for used bikes. I've gotten a couple PMs with offers of bikes to borrow, so I think we will work something out and get her on the dirt. Thank to all.
