Toughest Climb in LA

If MTB how about Tapia over off of Malibu Canyon. It starts off with some steep singletrack then onto a pretty steep fireroad. Near the top there's about 100 yards of steep hike-a-bike. I used to do that climb 2 or 3 times then after the 3rd I'd head over and do the backbone trail.

The steepness is moderated by the occasional level spots to take breathers without stopping the bike, so I can't rate that climb as a killer. I have a girl riding partner who did it SS with me.

On hot days it can be the coolest place to ride. The ocean breeze is funneled through the canyon.

Bulldog is tougher, with longer stretches of up. For intense climbing I rate Calabasas Peak one of the hard ones.
