Lake Tahoe in August

I will be renting a house in Lake Tahoe for the month of August. The purpose is to have a base to ride Tahoe and Downieville. The question is how much interest is there on this site for people that may want to join me for a few days to a week. I have found a number of houses the next question is how big of a house? I know my friend from New Mexico will join me for a week, but she does not ride and will come to gamble. I think I can talk her into shuttling the Flume. All the houses I am looking at are in South Lake Tahoe/Stateline/Kingsberry area.

I hear that Northstar's bike park should be open. Give me a idea if there is interest, I have to lock down a house soon or I will not get a monthly rate. August is popular in Tahoe.

I am not doing it to make money. At this point I am only checking interest. Tahoe is special with world class MTBing.

Pay me what you feel it is worth. If it is worth $5 a night to you, you can have the tent in the yard.

I'm going to try to make it. I have a 10 day meeting in August. As soon as the dates are firmed up, that will allow me to fine tune the rest of my schedule. I'll let you know but it sounds great.

hmmm...early august before school start is when i can make it, depending on if i end up landing an internship anytime soon will limit whether i can make it or not. Well even when school starts i have thursday through sunday off. I can head up for a few nights. I am poor so I will take the 5 bucks a night in the tent in the back

HELL YEAH, I'm in my brutha. I'd plan a vacation week around this for sure. This is a long drive people and I wouldn't consider anything less then 4 days riding after driving that far.

its not that, i just won't have a lot of money to drop that month since i would have to pay for school and books at the end of aug. I should be able to come up with a few hundred if thats what it costs

I did not expect much interest, but if there was I had a line on a large house, I let that house go and settled on a 2 bedroom log cabin. I put a deposit down for two weeks, August 4th through August 17th. There rest of the month is still open if interest peaks.

Cabin is in South Lake Tahoe 1 mile from Stateline, that means casinos close by...also two blocks from the Lake. Usually the surface water of Tahoe has warmed up by August and the Lake is pleasant to swim in, just don't dive deep...Tahoe is cold. Closest Mountain Biking will be Tahoe Rim Trail Kingsbury Grade, X-Mas Valley in Meyers, Star Lake and Toads. 20 minutes to Spooner Lake/Flume, a hour + to Hole in the Ground. Hour to Northstar. Downieville a couple of hours. Two weeks is not enough time to hit all the good trails but I will give it a heroic try.

The thing about Tahoe is that you need to get on the Lake way early, the Lake gets totally blown out by noon most days. That is OK because riding is all day, Tahoe rarely gets over 80 degrees.

seeing as how my birthday is august 4th, I am going to go! Actually probably leave on th 6th which is a monday, or late sunday because i actually want to do the snow valley offroad triathlon on sunday the 5th. This a good time for you pain freak? I dont trust my car going that far so i would have to carpool with someone up there.

Dean, What dates are you thinking of? I'll put in my vacation request now. We are also going to Cancun in August so maybe a week there and a week in Tahoe, man, I think I'm in heaven.
