Default How far do you drive to ride?

On average for your weekend rides, how far do you drive to ride? Does the drive time have an effect on what trail you choose to ride? I'm pretty lucky, only have to drive about 15 minutes for some good singletrack.

Cool

I try to drive no more than a hour and usually I can find something around that time frame. Longer is not worth it b/c of all the trails I have around me. I do drive far sometimes if I feel like wasting the whole day. Where do u stay? 15min sounds almost like my situation.

My only rule is that where ever I drive to, that I ride longer then I drive.

I was once invited to a ride in the Santa Monicas, that was a really short ride. All the way home I couldn't believe I had just drove my truck 4 hours for a 1.5 hour ride. Talk about being bummed. Really for any decent rides that have what I'm looking for, it takes over an hour to get there.

This was a tough one for me... I live at the Canyon Vista entrance to AWC so 2 or 3 times a week I am in the park (trail patrol, hikes, rides etc). Other days I head out to the local trails or beyond..

Have plenty of man-made red and black grade single track within 2 hours.
As for natural routes, I only have to ride outta my garden gate into the woods opposite.

1-2 hours one way for a local ride. Problem is that I have rode everything I want to ride in that radius.

I am lucky that I have family members living in other good mountain biking areas. Now I need a family member to move to Lake Tahoe.

I'll talk to my wife. She keeps wanting to move. We were talking about AZ but Tahoe is real nice. Maybe they need a drama teacher.

My wife too. We've been talking Colorado/Idaho.
I'd kinda like to move to Mammoth.
Closest trailhead to my house is 20 min.

Poll is all over the place. Seems like there's a lot of variety here when it comes to how far we drive to the trailhead.

I drive 5 minutes to Calavera at the noon hour.
Sucks, because the closed Flightline trailhead is so close to my work.

I am guessing that rule does not apply to vacations and road trips.
