Default Starting to get stoked!

I wasnt gonna bother you guys with pics until finished but my wheels just got built (poor Chad....I went through 4 decisions on the wheels I wanted and settled on these). He is a stud...he only received hardware yesterday and made time to build them up already.

Anyway....figured I would share since I am really stoked and cant help myself.

Made the last part selection yesterday on brakes as I got tired of trying to track down Avid codes, but wasnt married to the idea of them so went with something else. Bike ships Friday!

here is my wheelset with pics sent via email a bit ago by my main man Chad! And for the record, I maintain that my bike is a budget bike cause I stuck with the X7 rear derailleur.

Just out of curiosity what made you choose industry 9 hubs over King or Hope

Fair question for sure. I have had a couple King wheelsets and have had a Hope wheelset.

I still say "dollar for dollar", nothing beats Hope Hubs. While I dont believe that engagement makes a massive difference, even if it doesnt, when you get Kings or I9s you get spoiled unfortunatley and you notice it....and for me it bothers me to have slower engagement. Hopes rock for sure.

Kings are good. Having had 2 King wheelsets I never really understood the fascination. Sure they are nice....but I hated the annoying drag....and having to check preload often....I know, not a big deal, but just not that stellar for me. Plus, a lot of money and i figure for about the same (+/- depending on your connections) I would much rather have I9.

Industry Nines, like Kings, is a great product. Sure Kings have a longer track record, etc....but one of the things that is HUGE to me is customer service. not that King necessarily has "bad" customer service, but Industry Nine is in a COMPLETE league of their own, COMPLETELY! They are phenomenal to deal with.

Not to mention, their spokes make for a killer stiff wheelset....it is truly amazing. And people blab about proprietary spokes...blah blah blah....totally lame. You get extra spoked from I9, you can call and get more, they take not special tools to build wheels so unlike some proprietary stuff it is a moot point. The engagement is stellar...faster than anything out there (120 pt with the 6-pawl hub).

Yeah I know the King uses ratchet system blah blah blah....but i have seen it fail too and overall, Kings are way overrated in my humble opinion....but that is just my opinion. I would say it is the customer service that really does it for me cause like i said, both great products and i really like the choice of colors. I9 now also just released non proprietary spoke hubs that work with conventional spokes....about $50 less than King per hub but i love the spokes so i stuck with them. This is my second wheelset from I9 and I could not be happier.

thanks man....though i dont deny loving the looks, i got it due to function.

For this set, converted the rear axle to a 10mm and will be running a Hadley 10mm thru axle. The hubs are easily convertible between 10mm and standard qr in the back....and convertible up front between standard qr, 20mm thru axle, or Maverick 24mm axle which is nice (sort of like the Hope hubs). My other I9 wheelset is 24mm front.

them are some schweeet a$$ wheels Fo! In the end, there was no way you were going to stick to a budget building your RFX .

I totally concur about the Kings. I had a set built up for my 5Spot while waiting for the Highline this past spring... what a drag! They are well machined and the engagement is awesome but they drag like a mofo. Granted though... after getting the Highline and then the RFX, the 5Spot has seen much action [I should probably sell it ]. So in all fairness... they aren't probably broken in. If I could do it again, I'd just opt for another set of I9s.

No, they are not available actually. We sent the DT Swiss 5.1s out to get powdercoated .......called DT Swiss to get new stickers.......and relabled it so people would think you could get them that way . DT Swiss does have an all white EX1750 complete wheelset (based on the 5.1 rims) but will not be selling them separately.

thanks man. nah....not a real bike like a Highline...just an RFX. But at least it is an 06 RFX and not the girlied down 07 version.

ships out friday....so get it next week. My man chad really hooked me up.

chaos, I'm telling you man....it is a budget build....I am running an X7 rear der

Seriously though, I paid the same for this or less than an off the shelf rather generic Specialized Enduro Pro. Chad took care of me and sure there was a bro-deal gonig on but still. When you work with the right people, buying off the shelf bikes is not the way to go....in my humble opinion.

knowing me it could be yours soon other than my Ventana X5, i do not think i have EVER kept a bike for over a year.....most of them MUCH less.

having said that, the 2 bikes I will now have are keepers.....they are exactly what I have determined I actually need....we shall see.

Thanks for the feed back. I ride on hope hubs and I love them to death esp the no tools to get to the ratchet (yes I actually lube my hubs, amazing) But I have heard quite a buzz over I9 hubs and spokes and I have kinda second guessed myself over not getting Kings. I won't do that anymore. Sweet wheel set. I have a set of michelin wild gripper hot s tires with the red tread that would look awesome on those. they are 26x2.5 and have about 80 mi on them. If you want them and can throw me a couple of bones let me know. Thanks
