Default just an observation/thought

it appears to me that there is much more road cr@p (and not a synonym for stuff) on this board lately. Am I correct that STR stand for SoCal Trail riders? If so, maybe we can kill this sh!t or accommodate by their own section so I don't have to read this drivel just playing a bit, sort of, well, i think so.

Anyway you look at it, it's a BIKE site. Most of the threads are labeled for you'd know they were talking about road rides. Either way all riding is fun in my book, and I enjoy reading even about the things I don't do. I don't race dh, but I still am very interested in it.

What real differnce does it make what lies beneath our tires? I'll ride anything.

I sure don't want to offend people. I didn't know that there was such a strong bias against riding bikes on the road. It's funny to me because the mountain bikers I have met have been the nicest and warmest, most tolerant people who are easy going and just out to have a good time no matter what... unless you mention road bikes and then everybody acts like you're singing Slayer songs in the Vatican. Honestly, it trips me out. But, whatever. Cycling is the only sport I've run into that encourages division. You'd think that since we all want more riders that we'd look to get people involved no matter what. I'm not sure what's so threatening about road riding. It gets me in shape faster than mountain biking so I can go farther and faster. I've seen the most improvement in my trail riding since I started riding my commuter.

Anyway, it's not my board. So, if people don't want road content, I guess I will refrain.

Most people know that I don't like road riding and would never buy a road bike but it doesn't bother me when people post about road riding on STR. Moreover, they've done a good job of labeling it.

i road ride....will you still be my friend? i think george has done a great job with the site and am very thankful for all he has contributed. there are alot of other threads that are gayer than road riding threads that have nothing to do with biking and bit my tongue and kept my opinions to myself. my take, it's not like i'm paying anything for this site so why complain?

I have never found any real dislike between the two groups. To me it is just good natured poking fun at each other. I supose some may take it seriously and may take offense...those people need to just get over themselves or move on.

If I lived in a area that did not have dirt close by, I too would ride the road.

I know of a couple of local trails that can be ridin' in the rain without trail damage. Since I have been a kid I love to ride my bike in the rain.

yep i agree labeled fairly well but it's like a car accident. i see the heading "road ride" and now i have to look at the thread and see which str folks crossed over to the "weak side" j/k.

if not obvious i was just playing around. saw a few postings and thought would f-around. i have no issues with those who road ride but do with the bikes and shorts

sticking with my fat tires and fat belly

I ride commuter but the closest I get to an actual road bike is putting my smaller slicks on my hard tail. I agree with dstepper that most of the ribbing is good natured. The only thing that I don't care to see is a dude who weighs 350 all lycra'd up on his $200 road bike wheezing along. Although I am glad that he is out there riding and obviously trying to get excersise it is just the visual

i think they should be hung by their nipples....really though i only have issues with bikers who yell at you when your blocking the trail after a bad fall or don't offer help when you have mechanical probs.

CC, SS, DH, roadie, cyclocross, bmx,and whatever else...I love to ride them! You can just Label yourself but just give me any two wheels. I want to ride fast, jump, take the drops, crank hard, chase roadies, draft at 25 mph, ride a rock garden, downhill on a 50 mph road bike, what else? That's what's it's about...being a biking ho's! I can be found some days riding 20 miles on the road to pick up my mountain bike dropped off by the wife and then switch again for the ride home. Oh ya, I have helmet hair no matter what I ride.

One of the coolest members here rides a mountain tandem with his wife. IMO that is so cool its ice.

Also seen recumbent guy ridding Slick Rock Moab. Again thatspretty cool even though I would never be interested myself.

You know what? Just for that, I'm going to look for a tandem and ride it with my wife. Now what?
