Default SLOWLY but surely...

starting to come together....poor, poor Chad (redbarnbicycles.com), he must want to kill me by now.

I am now on my fourth wheelset spec.....second brake spec (since the Magura Venti rotors look horrible against red...i know, lame, but true)....

I cant wait...though due to my schizo style, still waiting on parts, though should be done shortly. I cant believe i am excited about getting a turner...

no worries dawg...you dont need to dig it.....i like over the top non generic stuff. I cant stand spending a lot of money for a "safe" looking build....just not fun for me and none of my bikes will ever please everybody. when complete, it will be even more over the top in terms of colors here....colors there......i always wonder how they will look till they are done but I am lucky, each time I end up loving them.

hopefully the wheels can be done by the end of the next week...i am indeed excited!

I have never seen a pic of your bikes that you've built that I haven't fallen in love with. I'm serious, I think you have a lot of artistic ability in building bikes.

LOL....I thought about that but after last week I am now $500 over the limit alloted for the bike. however, that is not too bad i suppose.

Chad would KILL me if I asked for another thing......he has gone beyond the call of duty with me with a couple aftermarket types of things....nothing too crazy, but still...

hell yeah you do!

if I aint running single speed I sure as hell aint running shimano!

I LOVE twist shifters. I particularly love them with 3-ring setups where you can "trim" the front cable with interim shifts so as to always avoid rubbing the der....but with this setup i still love it. I am sure it is a love or hate thing but i will never run triggers again.

I went with SRAM X7 triggers cause they are all black....no silver like in the X9 shifters and X0 has no place on this bike....form before function....WAY before function

I too like their SPDs. I was stoked to have found some NIB 646 pedals....dont know why they stopped making them. they are HEAVY but I like them way better than the new girly plastic 647 pedals.

thanks for the kind words my friend.

I honestly get a lot of pleasure from piecing bikes together....doesnt have to be bling to have fun. I have no carbon on this bike, etc....i just dont get any satisfaction from building a bike that looks like everybody elses, not that there is anything wrong with that. Just an expensive hobby I suppose

We shall see when it comes together in its complete form...I know I will like it but when you do 3 colors you never know sometimes....

Alright... you caught me! Actually I am jealous of your stable of bikes, especially your single speed. I was contemplating on our last ride together how I might make it look like an accident and push you over the side of trail and ummm, well give your bike a good home. I have to agree with the rest of the guys, you have a knack for putting beautiful bikes together.

I assure you, I do very little good so thanks for the kind words. As for my "stable", no such thing anymore. I only have one bike right now and the Turner will make 2. That is all I need. The only bike i see getting as the third bike one day is one of the many 29er sub $1000 single speeds to keep in my office for my lunch time rides.

Have a nice rest of the weekend!

hah....now white tires would be too much even for me. However, there are 2 other parts besides the stem, bars, saddle, and fork that will be white and I should get a look at them this week.
