Glad to hear that it is working out for you. try taking just the shoe and clipping it into the pedal. turn it upside down so that you can see the cleat engaged in the pedal. Take a marker an d mark an outline of the pedal on the sole of the shoe. take a dremel tool with a rotary file bit in it and grind off any tread inside the marks. Voila!

Clipless for me...on all the bikes. Crank Bros. Candy SL's. They rock and after the break in they get so comfy. Your break-in of the clips will eventually make it easier to exit on any set of cleats. Eventually the cleats have to be replaced when they get too sloppy and unclip all the time. Good luck and watch out for the OS Oh shit factor when challenging trails lie ahead. It gets easier with time!

OK, I have a question for those that use clipless. When going down hill, either my left or right foot will once in a while get off the pedal to get balance or kick my way through to not fall over. Sometimes I do it all the time. Do you guys do the same on the clip style pedals or is it just that my riding sucks?

Riding clipless becomes second nature over time. To be honest, its not that scary or dangerous at all. General xc and all mountain riding would best benefit from being clipped in. Dh,freeride, and dirt jumpers mostly use platforms even though most dh PROS use clipless(exception Sam Hill).

After you get used to and comfortable with clipless pedals, you will find that you don't even think about it anymore. It does take time and practice to feel comfortable with them.
I have been running them since '96 and no matter what bike I am riding: XC/SS/FR/DH/Road my feet unclip when they are supposed to and I really don't have to think about it. It just seems natural. You will learn that keeping your feet on the pedals deeps your balance on the bike better. mtnbikej |
