Default The continuation of the Ford's suck/turbo's are cool thread!!!

Yeah, so Abel's car was quite impressive. I remember watching it back when I went to Battle of the Imports years ago. Rotary engines sound so bitchin when they are all ported out.

Spooky, did you use to work by R&D Dyno or something? I've had both of my cars tuned by Darrin, nice guy.

Darrin and I have been good friends for at least 20 years now.
I never worked there but I always was around that area. Those buildings have alot of history to me. They are the old Rayson Craft shop. They rented from Rudy Ramos before Darrin bought them. Rudy was the godfather to performance boating. He just passed away about a month ago.
Darrin said he sold RD dyno not to long ago.

As far as Fords sucking I put over 360,000 hard miles on the Ranger I had. Turbo's are cool but how do you guys get by with out a truck?

Wow, didn't know he sold R&D.....good to know I guess.

I'm just partially joking about the Ford thing.......some people have had great luck with them. Although I do work next door to a transmission shop and about 75% of their business is Ford

I do want to get a truck myself.....but gotta sell my CRX before I can do that.

my very first car was a used Ford Mustang. nothing special to look at . Had In-line 6 that was simple to work on so even i could do some work (some). never caused me any issues but that said, that was then. I worked for a subsidiary of Ford and we had decent employee pricing discount and i still would not buy a Ford. Have a Tacoma and yes, i too cannot imagine not owning a truck for hauling my sh!t aka bikes/boards/etc.

My Ford is pretty sweet. Its a Focus SVT. 170bhp and it'll take either 3 people and 2 mountain bikes INSIDE! or 2 people and 3 mountain bikes INSIDE. When are you Yankees going to realise that hatchbacks are the way forward?!

My last car in the UK was a Ford RS Turbo. 1.6litre 4 pot, 8v head and it put out 224 turbo charged horses at the flywheel. In the 9yrs I had it, it broke down once. Ford's (at least European designed Fords!) Rock!

Ford made some nice 4-banger turbos. My buddy had an SVT Mustang in the 80's. I don't think I ever rode in that car without going 100 at least once. We made it to the river in 2 1/2 hrs one time. He even bracket raced it at OCIR before it closed. Of course I still kicked his arse in 1/4 mile. I had a Chevelle that ran 12.80's on street tires. There's no replacement for displacement.

Dont forget the Ford RS200, the old Group B rally car. All-wheel drive, 2.1 liter turbocharged 4-banger putting out 650 bhp and 0-60 in 2.1 seconds. That was one sick Ford

Does your half brother hang around the hood alot?

The RS200 was actually a 1.8litre Cosworth BDA. After the demise of Group B there was an unofficial RS200 Evo and that had the 2.1litre motor.
Either way its one hell of a vehicle altho the 50/50 torque split and the short wheelbase make it a pig to handle on the limit.

Hey Keith, I'd love to talk British cars with you someday. That's all I heard about growing up. My dad was a big British car guy. He had several Sprites, and a good friend who had a Lotus Super 7. That thing was stupid fast I guess. I didn't have much of an engine, but it weighed less than 1000 pounds. It would walk all over the big motor guys in the 1/4.

Wasn't the super 7 a Catterham<sp> ? If we're talking about the same car, they were outlawed from various forms of competition because of their performance.

Caterham bought the rights to the Super 7 after Lotus discontinued it.
