Saw someone went missing in the Santa Monicas. Anyone know the scoop?

I heard on the news last night bits and pieces. They said he was an inexperienced rider and on top of that just had back surgery....

AM news said that Malibu authorities gave up their search and turned it over to LAPD missing persons since he is from there.

freaky. just went riding there today! and i got lost myself ... some nice people drove me back to my car, because i got spit out on the other side of the canyon. ooops. gotta think ahead. the local bike shop didn't have a map for the darn area ... wtf?

i hope they find the mtb-er ... that's sad.

For trail directions in that area, I recommed www.geoladders.com. Also, for the Backbone trail (which is most excellent), the National Park Service has a map that is pretty good: http://www.nps.gov/samo/upload/TrailPub_backbone.pdf.

Wow, another mountain biker died. My neighbor (CHP Officer) told me last night that it looked to be a heartattack as there were no obvious signs of injury. So sad. The guy didn't look that old, but was a little out of shape and not all that experienced. Another reason to ride with friends (although that may have nothing to do with it). My condolences to the family and friends.

I don't want to loose anymore buddy's .
SCUBA rules are good to follow.

Rule #1 ) Ride with a partner . Practice the buddy system . Keep tabs on your buddy . Don't get seperated by much.
