no doubt....when i remembered that aquaholic just got a Lyrik I had to scratch that off the list

plus, i just love Marz.....and besides, the new 66 SL will match my stem and bars and after all, looks are what count damnit!!

i would probably not consider the coil 66 (even thought it is sweet) cause I dont want to add weight if not needed.....and would probably not consider a 2006 66 SL cause I would not want to be stuck with a given travel on a ride (and dont want to adjust air on the trail). That is what sold me on this one....the new ATA travel feature.

Fork will not be released until after Interbike but hopefully Chad can get me on the early order list and I can be stoked soon.

My budget build has added $400 from where it started but is still a budget bike in my book.

Cheers

It's all relative to who's book you're comparing, too, eh?

Fo, glad I could help ya out.

Remember back in March it was you that helped spend my money on carbon fork for my One-9. That fork from On-One should be showing up any day now.

Do I get listed on your elite MTBR signature? It would make me proud.

I think i do need to add you Dean

I am stoked on the new fork....I have heard great things from good riders who have an 06 66 SL. I just hope it does not add too much time to the build (will be no fault of Chad's of course.....he rocks.....just worried cause fork is not released yet but Marz typically does right after Interbike).

the upgrades (including this fork over the Z1 Light) have only cost me an extra $400 which is truly amazing for what extra I am getting for the $400. Best part is, the bike is stil right at what I paid for the One 9...maybe $100-$150 more.....so stoked knowing that!

There are some smokin' deals out there on '06 66's. You'll likely never use 180 mm '07 vs 170 mm '06. Personally I wouldn't use an air fork on a 6" bike but I have heard good things on the Lyric. Mixed reviews on the 66 SL.

I got such a good deal on a 36 Van I had to give Fox another chance. Hopefully I won't miss the travel adjust too much.

in my simple mind, the bottom line is that all of these/those forks would work. The marz z1 light would work....as wold the lyrik, fox, etc....

i just dig marz forks is all. i also like the white fork (to match other parts) so really no science involved at all. it will WAY MORE than serve my needs i am sure. Lyrik was gonna be quite a bit more for me so that is why i did not go that route, even though people i respect said i would be an idiot if i did not get one.....fortunately i am used to that

I doubt I will ever use the 180mm either...that really did not play a role in my decision. I wanted a ligther fork (by about a pound over the coil 66) and with the option to drop travel down, on the fly now, to 140mm, that helped me too with my decision.

If i got an 06 66 SL I would be tempted to either set the travel to less than 170mm since I could not drop the travel easy on the trail or have it at 170mm and suffer on the climbs a bit more.....my pricing is pretty darn good so the 07 is really not costing me much more at all.

cheers

Hey Foshizzle

I had a chance to try the new Lyrik and it is the SHIZZLE fo sure! It's unblievably plush and insanely stiff!

i know the pricing is steep for now but give it a few month it will be with in rang on ebay soon.

i have no doubt that the lyrik is awesome.....larry mettler and others said it rocked but i needed to flip a coin today and the marz won out.

remember that i have been riding single speeds exculsively for well over a year now so anything is gonna rock my world. half of that time the single speeds were fully rigid so even low PSI seems plush to me.

its all good in the hood....

I am too old to use "equipment" now anyway. Remember, i just had a birthday so i am an old fart now. i finally took dirttorpeedo up on his suggestion to get a carbon kickstand for my bike. I cant wait!

not everybody can be a spring chicken like you

edit: crap, i just noticed it is your birthday today! my present is in the mail glad I am not the only old fart around here anymore. Happy birthday!

If you gotta flip a coin today then there isn't much of choice really. I have always been a big fan of Marz...it's just that Lyrik is something else.

Now that you are going from half an inch to 7 inch.....you are really riding in style!

actually, i can get a lyrik as well right now. it is the marz that i have to wait for as i want the new 07 and they wont be released till after interbike. I just meant i needed to flip a coin today cause i was going crazy going back and forth between several forks and just wanted to end the madness!

regardless of fork, still wont be able to keep up with you my friend

and while i apologize in advance to the STR ladies, i have to say this helped me with my decision as well.
