I have problems going up meadows right now, especially the middle sections. The Switchbacks are not that tight, but they get really steep and close together. There seems to be a lot of sand right now so if I lean foward my back tire slips, too far back and my front lifts up.

A lot of Aliso is really sandy right now

cool little video on switchbacks, it was informative. i know it was just a teaser, but will he cover negotiating switchbacks going downhill as well?

also, i felt that the use of the fish-eye lens made me a little nauseated, and probably could have been left out. i understand it was used to most likely show the entire turn from overhead.

Good feedback ya'll. The fish eye is necessary for some shots like the point-of-view shots where you see the handlebars. It's also necessary when the camera man's standing in the middle of the apex of the turn and he needs to pick up a real wide angle or else not show enough of what's going on. That said, yeah, it makes me a little ill, too. Fisheyes are fun for still photos but should be used sparingly for video.

As for the DH switchback tips... well, isn't that a glaring gap in this video? I think it's been filmed and all I can say right now is hopefully it's in postproduction.

If not, I'll get you some tips from the man himself.

i hear ya regarding the necessity of the lens to show the viewer the entire switchback, from entering it to exiting it. i just thought it was overused. those lower san juan switchbacks aren't a problem for me, the ones that give me trouble are the steep ones on holy jim with the water bars/bricks in the apex of them. i know what i need to do to handle them, it is just whether or not i have the nads to go for it and risk falling over. (which i really dont care to, as im pretty winded on that section of climbing HJ).

we use them(fisheyes) when getting water footage when bodyboarding and surfing, they are almost a must for "in the barrel shots".

looking forward to seeing the final cut film.

Again, thanks for the feedback. I heard from corporate (and by "corporate" I mean one guy in norcal) and he said that the final cut will have instruction on going down.
