Another advantage to the enduros is the availability of aftermarket parts available for them to tune the bike to what you need. A good example is Betd Goldtec that sells a suspension link to increase rear travel on 02-04 enduros from 5" to 6" . Add a new Fox Float or Talas RLC front and a conservative build and you can easily have a 6" travel bike in the low to mid 30s.

Love the one you're with.

Nah, get a Specialized. Those are the best bikes on the road. Real riders sit astride Specialized.

I just started riding, and I had a lot of the same issues you had. I think the key is getting into riding shape. The more I ride, the easier it is...and the more I like it.

For me, it's about testing my limits, getting some exercise, and enjoying the outdoors. If my bike was a little lighter... it wouldn't make any difference.

When I started riding I put myself on a cheap budget for a bike ($500) I bought an entry level bike w/ NO bling of course....this allowed me to see what type of riding I was going to like....I then built my KHS FR bike which I still have and could suit your needs and is for sale btw...you can climb w/ it and huck w/ it...I then bought a Heckler b/c I had a case of the spends and I absolutely LOVE it...it's a little less of a hucker and more of a climber then my KHS but it is BY FAR the best All Around bike for the money IMO
