That I got some pics of my pig up here.

She's a hefty beast like just like me, and after rollin around on her for a while, two things are for certain... I'm further out of shape than I thought, and as nice as this thing handles, I'm not going to be flippin it around like a BMX for a couple of weeks. For the most part, this is the first time I have been back on a bike in the past year, outside of stationary rigs in physical therapy. Mixed emotions as I'm happy as hell to have her done, but bummed that the road back is going to be a little longer and steeper than I had thought.

Build is pretty ghetto, but gets the job done. The only things that may go bye bye in the immediate future are the pedals and the bar/stem combo.

cool beans chris. I like it for what it is. Might not want to do 30 miles on it but it sure looks fun.
Don't sweat the outta shape thing man. Just start riding and it will come back. Hey, ya gotta start someplace. It might as well be now instead of down the road when you are ever farther out of shape.

As far as flipping it around like a BMX bike in a few weeks.......
Earth the Chris, you are an adult now, not an 18 year old kid. Have fun on it and ease back into it kinda slow. You just got healed up so the goal is to have fun and keep the bones all together. If you are having fun riding then getting in shape and improving your riding will just happen.

With all that said, I think mountian biking has saved my life. Yeah, I crash and get all beat up. But man O man would I be some fat (ok, fatter) pig with out riding. I'm telling you, not sitting on the couch will add years to my life.

So when's your first trip back to Del Corro gonna be?

Dave,

I hear you on the take it easy thing. Thats the reason I was wearing my reefs and not some vans yesterday I'm in the exact same boat as you in terms of needing something to rekindle the joy of my youth and keep my body moving. I used to play hockey a couple times a week, ride almost every day, be in the water a couple times a week during the summer, and I always did well despite my build because I was so active. The last 8 years or so I really fell out of touch with a lot of the activities that made me happy. Hence the reason for the bike build; to get me motivated to get back out there. Growing up, my bike was one of my best friends. My bike always provided me with something to do, and a sense of satisfaction and identity. Time to pay the bike back with some work to get my fat ass closer to riding shape from the days of yore.

As far as my first trip back to the Ciz, probably 2 weeks. Once I'm on the bike for a little while longer, I'll be more comfy; still slow, but comfortable. At that point I don't mind pushin the hill if need be, just so I can be out there having fun. I'll probbly head out there once with Ty on our own, then call up the homies and go for a ride. I gotta keep up or ride faster than Mark because he's been throwin in a few friendly comments about being 32 and building a DJ type rig. I'd be funny to run a burlier line than him, or at least hit the same lines harder/faster on a 38lb hardtail Don't worry, a formal ride will be soon, and when it happens I'll let you know.

screw that man, I'm going out there with you and Ty.
Hey, it's all in fun with zero pressure. And who know's, maybe we can take a peek at some of those lines in advance. Kinda like a pre run type of deal.

38 pounds and what looks to be a single chain ring. Yup, you'll be pushing untill you get your lungs back. But so what, I push my DH bike up hills all over the place.

Glad to hear you built it for the right reasons. Some things should never change. And when they get to far out there ya just gotta sometimes go back to your roots.

I think the wife and I are going to do a little ride on the Strand this Sunday. Wanna go?

I have to check with Emily to see if we have anything planned that I don't know about, but if not, I don't see why we couldn't go. I'll let you know tonight/tomorrow. I'll let you know when we head to Del Cerro.
