The smaller wheel in back is too make the bike lighter but mostly too make turning easier.

Yeah, doesn't Travis Brown (?) race on that thing? I believe he finished in the top 3 at the WSSC.

Ya he was the first person to race one of them. The mad scientiests at trek made it and he raced it the weekend after. He was on a pink SS bike 29/26 I dont if its the same bike or not.

I like it but not sure about the small tier on the rear.

concept has been around for a while. the driver of the concept is associated with the negative aspect with acceleration on a 29er wheel; which is addressed by the 26" wheel in back. Plus, the concept is that for rolling over stuff easier is primarly driven by the front wheel (ie, 29er) therefore, keep the 29er up front. Allows a shorter chainstay for climbing, etc...

like I said though, not a new concept. there is a very cool company called Carver Bikes doing it for a while. I ALMOST bought one since the price is right.

For a Carver geared bike with a 29er Reba fork and disc brakes = $1499

Carver single speed with Karate monkey fork = $999

Yeah, he ripped it up at the SOC on that thing. He's given the design some merit, but I suspect his incredible speed is more Travis then the bike. Still, I would sure like to give it a spin.

I agree with you there. He could probably ride that freaking Big Wheel to a podium spot.

Good idea at first but everyone found out that the rear is not as smooth and won't roll as well as the front. It also has less traction in the rear so....it's kinda pointless. They never sold well.

I was thinking maybe a 96er FS bike might work better.
