Hmm oooh, the fast ss'er ! I don't recall him riding a 29'er though. Was it mark ? Dude im this | | close to buying it tomorrow LOL. My mind is holding back but my body isn't willing hehehe. I did go there and mentioned your name. But i didn't look for Cory. That'd be great if you can get me a price, also if they'll be having an 18.

I won't run off the trails if u don't tailgate me like you do when u drive ur truck

I'll call and get you a price.

BTW, a 29er will not help with your problem of running off the trails.

Yeah, it’s mark. If it was a couple of month ago, I was on a borrowed 26’er (Corey’s bike).

Corey is the shop owner and the only one who can cut a deal. Mike or I can probably talk to Corey and see if you can get a better deal. Keep in mind he’s in business to stay in business and needs to make some profit. The price you were given sounds pretty good.

I know he has an 18” frame, but it would have to be built up. That one was going to be Corey’s personal bike. I don’t know why he hasn’t built it up yet. Theoretically, they could swap the parts from the 16 to the 18. Have you tried the 16? It might be a better fit.

Yah, it was a couple months ago. we were on the gate and you guys came back to talk to mike.

I totally agree with the price, it would be good to get a great deal but i don't want to lowball it either. So when i get a firm good price i'll def go back there and make the final decision.

I also thought about the 16, since the stand over height of the 16 = 30.3 and 18 is 31.7. Since my inseam is 31.5 i don't think i can do 18. The top tube on the 16 is 22.5 and 18 is 33.5 so it'll be an inch shorter pretty much. Other than that everything else is fine.

Oh mark do u mind if i ask what size did you get? and your height and inseam ? im just trying to figure out the geom of the 29'er and kona.

Dude, this is CA, we don't have seasons, unless you count those two weeks of winter in January

I'd just like to thank you guys for the tips that you guys gave me on this thread. also to mike and mark for hooking me up with Cory, he really took care of me during the purchase! He did several trades with the components and didn't charge me anything. Also hooked me up with a parktool freewheel tool and tube. Dude this is my new found LBS!

I decided to stick with the Kona due to the price. I figured its the best bang for the buck right now. I did take it out for a spin and it was "tough" lol bonelli easy climbs felt like it was a wall! i havne't changed the gearing though and was running 32/19. I will go try some hills later with a 32/22 and hope it gets better.

Romeo, welcome to the the SS club. Now all your geared friends will think you have lost your mind. After you get used to SS please let them keep thinking it only for the very hardcore.

After you figure out what size freewheel you will be using buy yourself a nice White Industrys Freewheel. The engagement on them are near as nice as Kings. They are not cheap...$80+ but easy to rebuild and bullet proof.

lol, i dno dean. I have tried 22 and it still is tall. Maybe just me getting used to SS. I want to try 30 front but don't think the chainring will be easy to find.

i want the american classic wheelset, that would be my first upgrade then just invest on the casseete. I dno if i can get myself to invest on a 80 dollar freewheel hehehe
