Default Would anyone consider helping me set up a ride?

I'm new here. I've only been lurking for an extremely short time but I've read quite a few posts. A buddy sent me a link to this site and it looks to be a really cool bunch of people.

I get to SoCal a couple of times per year and have heard about some fantastic rides. I'll be there for Christmas/New Year and have been wondering if it's possible to set up a ride.

I'm 6'4" tall and 210 lbs. My girlfriend is 5'4" tall and about 120 lbs. Is there any chance of finding a shop that would rent us bikes that would be close to appropriate for our size? I'm guessing I'll be more difficult to fit than she will be.

She's fairly new to the sport but has a decent bike and a huge heart. We would appreciate recommendations on intermediate level rides we could take. We're not in good shape but we're not couch potatoes, either.

Peters, Aliso, Fully, Whiting/luge. I like long walks on the beach and cozying up in front of a crackling fire.

Depending on where you are staying the calendar can be useful.

So Cal is a big area. It would be helpful if you could narrow it down to where you'll be and we should be able to help you out.

Thanks, gents. I apologize for the ambiguity.

We'll be roaming around for a couple of weeks: San Diego, Yuma, Parker, Havasu, Orange, Irvine....

We don't mind driving. Now that I think of it, I've rented a mid-sized car. Perhaps I should bump that up to a mini-van to accommodate a couple of bikes.

I'm not sure when you'll be in Orange or Irvine, but I have small Epic your gf can borrow if you want to save a little cash. I also have a trunk mount rack you can use as well.

You're on your own for your bike though. I'm a bit wanting in the long legs department. If you don't mind looking like a bear riding a bike at the circus you are more than welcome to borrow any of my other bikes. I'm 5'6" btw.

Oh, and

I've known Tom online for years but have yet to meet him in person.
Tom, just tell me the days you want to ride in the Orange County area and I'll take care bikes.

I think a classic San Juan shuttle would be fun.

When you are in the Orange County Area, Rock n' Road Cyclery has rental bikes including female models. They have four store locations in the OC. Their Laguna Niguel store number is 949 360-8045.

If you're here the day after Christmas, there's this ride:

It is in Santa Anas and one of the gems of local riding.
