Here I am COMPLETELY cash poor.....losing sleep cause I cant imagine when I can tinker with a new bike again (I know, I need help).
Just curious what bikes you guys are thinking. We should also have a database (spreadsheet, sticky posting, whatever) of the bikes members have. It would be sweet if instead of buying a bike based on word of mouth (and be left wondering if the fit is gonna suck), we could try one out first since as you all know, so many of the best bikes out there are tough to ever get a test ride on first, or even a parking lot test in some cases. Plus, it seems a lot of guys have bikes like Turners and the such which is a huge plus since you will be hard pressed to get anything more than a generic parking lot test on a bike like that, if even that. |

I had to create a new account since otherwise I would need to invite people individually to share the spreadsheet and that would not be effective. (1) you log on to http://spreadsheets.google.com (2) USERNAME = socaltrailriders (3) PASSWORD = singlespeed (4) click on OPEN (5) select STR I created various tabs.....probably the most useful will be bikes. you will see I added columns that I think are the useful ones, such as type of frame, size of frame, wheelsize. these are the things that people may search on to find something applicable. also added username and location so people can see how far that person is. This may fall by the wayside....oh well. I think unlike mtbr, this may be useful actually as we all live pretty close to one another....and for a lot of coin, worth driving an hour or so to check out a bike/part. And dont forget to sign out if you guys (and gals) use it. |

my guess is yes.....since is autosaves any changes. that is perhaps a downside but at the same time, at least it stores any changes a person makes while looking so the next person can check it out. however, it still may let more than 1 person in at a time are you in there right now? if so....i can try to log in too...also, not even sure one needs to logout...may not matter |

I was thinking about that. I don't see myself doing super aggressive downhill. I just like XC better. So, I guess I would want a super light XC rig. I've done zero research so I don't know f*ckall about what I'm talking about here. But, the Turner 5 spot looks cool as does some of those Ventana rigs. I doubt I need more than 5" of travel. I would consider a hard tail but I like the squish. I think a Brain shock would be cool so I'd look at the Spec'd Epic, too.

My next bike is on order, a 29 inch Turner Flux built as light as posible so I can be as broke as FoShizzle.
Won't be ready until Interbike when Turner rolls them out.
