I never thought a hardtail would even come close to tackling terrain like this bike. a lot of fun.

cheers
Damn FoShiz. I was all but sure my next bike project would be a long travel FS rig for all mountain duty. Until now... Your AM 29er got me wondering whether I should build up a SS 29er instead. Thanks a lot!

oh man...I am sorry

As much as I loved my FS bike, I NEVER used it, and it was definitely my dream FS bike so it had nothing to do with the bike itself.

One option is always to have a 29er built up with rear cable routing (I had the zip tie version added on my Ventana frame to keep a cleaner look when not using gears), an eccentric bottom bracket, and a derailleur hanger. This way you can very easily do both geared or single speed. There are also great stock frames that come this way (eg, Ninerbikes SIR 29er hardtail).

let me know if you want to try one of my bikes out....i am busy this weekend but perhaps after that.

I dont miss my FS bike at all. I miss my Bullit once in a blue moon when DSTEPPER plans shuttle runs but that is SO rare for me it is not worth having a bike for once a year (at most) rides.

S'all good. Would you believe the X5 was on my short list for the next FS project? Truth is I've been SS'ing for a couple of years now and thoroughly enjoying it, but I still keep a geared hardtail just in case. And although some rides have me wishing for more cush front and rear, in restrospect those are few and far between.

Nice Comandante, btw. And drool-worthy wheels. Ah hell, I give props to all 'yer 29ers.

Well, I might as well join this party. Here I am making my XL Bullit look like a kid's bike.

And here's the 29er.

I really love that Highline. It might even make me own a Turner again. If they make an XL version.

That's funny because I originally bought one about 5 years ago and loved it, but then I started accumulating more and more bikes, and 2 years later decided that I'd sell the Bullit since I was more into riding XC on my Tracer. I missed that Bullit ever since, so a chance came up to get another XL Bullit frame for cheap about 6 months ago and I jumped at it.

Well, if you're not a Lurch like me then you should have no problem finding mediums and larges. I actually got my XL from a guy on Pinkbike for $450!

I'm 6' 5". I'd really like to have a DH frame custom made for me. My Wily 29er is custom and it's the best fitting bike I've ever owned. I don't even know of anyone who does custom DH frames. There is talk of an XL Highline, though, which could be cool.
