It's really not that tough. The 29 inch wheels smooth out the trails so much you don't need to run suspension!

Actually, it's a combination of the wheels and the foregiveness of steel in the fork and bars. Plus, I only run about 25psi in the tires.

my 3 rides....

my bike for about 5% of my rides.....ok bike, but in need of weight loss (everything but frame and fork will be replaced over time i am thinking....got bike through a trade, so not complaining though) and other changes, but ok; a 2005 Dos Niner

my bike when i want to go as fast as possible on climbs (about 19.5 lbs)

my "all mountain" bike. putting bigger tires on will make it perfect for virtually all my riding. pretty goog climber but made for all around riding (unlike previous bike pictured).

ha....i would not go that far. It is my AM bike by default as I have since sold my Ventana X5. Having said that, for my riding anyway, it give almost nothing up on most FS bikes I have ridden....with the exception of drops where rear travel helps. I love it. I never thought a hardtail would even come close to tackling terrain like this bike. a lot of fun.

cheers

yeah, but not really by choice. I had to sell my X5 as my wife unexpectedly needed a new car and it was the only bike that could fetch a decent amount of money fast. it went to a good friend so i was happy about that and he loves it and uses it WAY more than I was at the time of sale anyway.

when i one day have money again, my project will be to lighten up the salsa and make it more XC-worthy since as a heavy pig (for a hardtail anyway) it is a shame.....since it has a lot of potential as a fast XC rig I think.

cheers

Gitane Tour De France

No pic of my neighborhood cruiser.
While I love my bikes, I would really like to cheat on them with Fo's bikes!
