Default Rims for big guys

I'm looking for recommendations for a good set of heavy duty rims. I'm a big guy (250#) and I break spokes nearly every time I ride. I'm getting sick of it, time to upgrade- any thoughts?

you say your breaking spoke, why do you need stronger rims? I'd think you just go with with stronger spokes.

some Mavic 729's should do you up real good though!

Mavic EX823's. I love them because they are UST, and they are ridiculously strong.

It depends on what kind of coin you are willing to drop. I still recommend the 823's. I have mine laced to Hope Pro II hubs with DT Swiss Double Butted spokes and Brass nipples. I feel that with this combo you get a seriously strong wheel without riding with boat anchors on your bike. I have been riding this setup for over 1.5 years and have out some serious miles on them, not to mention beat the crap out of them on rock gardens, drops, and jumps. Not only have a not broken any spokes(knock on wood) but there isn't even a flat spot on the rim. Hope this helps. Later.

Oh yeah, I weigh a little less now, but I have been around 225lbs for most of the past 1.5 years.

Mavic 819s are pretty good rims.... not sure if they will take jumps or big drops, but for XC they work well

outlaws are good, But I only weight 180 and I blow thro a set around every 3 weeks or so. Only reason I keep buying them is cause Im sponsored by them. Really depends how had you ride and how big you go, not really how much you weight. Thats what suspensions for right?

From my personal experience (I'm #295) go with the Bombshell Fat Daddy or Bombshell Bearclaw (made for Darren "Bearclaw"Berrecloth) The Bearclaws come in a shot peened anodized gunmetal gray. They are both 36 hole and 36mm wide.

I had a set of Azonic Outlaws, they didn't stand a chance! I probably should have had them tensioned at my local bike shop before riding them hard. The good think about the Outlaws is that they come with a 20mm front with 9mm adapter and a 10mm rear QR with a 12mm conversion kit. The Bombshells only come with the 20mm front w/9mm adapter and a 10mm QR rear.

+1 Atomlab Trailpimps, my buddy is 250+ on a Coiler and aggressive and they haven't budged, he has them laced to atomlab spokes in front with hadley hub, rear is dt spokes w/ brass nipples to Hadley Ti hub.

I weigh 285 and the best rims I have ridden to date are a 36 spoke DT 5.1D on some XT hubs. I have had them for two years now and no problems what so ever. Check out Universal Cycles they are out of Oregon and have no sales tax. The have a custm wheel build option or you can by a complete wheelset. If you spend over $300 used VIP15 code for 15% off your order.

Compton is the definition of "gnar core" so it's not surprising that outlaws can't stand the heat.
