Default Avid Elixr vs Ultimates

I'm not going anything but avid so don't suggest any other brands. Just have had the best luck with them. I want to get either one I just can't decide. I want the white ultimates but the Elixrs are supposed to be real nice and cheaper. Benifits of either?

depends what you want to do, the elixirs are suppsed to be a true ALL MT brake, I am not a big fan of the Juicy brakes even though I know alot of people on here love them

I have the Elixirs R and so far so good. If I had to chose unless I was going weight weenie I would get the Elixirs. One downside is the Elixir has different pads then any others. It seems like you are paying a lot for a little weight saving between the Elixir CR and Ultimates. If you go with the R and lose the pad contact adjustment you can get an even bigger savings.

I'm a bit of a weight weenie. I can't seem to get over the white ultimates. Not that its a big deal but the top loading pad feature on the elixir is pretty cool.

I have the juicy ultimates and they rock-- of course, i have a white frame; white fork and silver wheels-- it looks pretty cool. cosmetics aside, i found the ultimates have great modulation and little to no fade-- and they stop real good too!

Having said that, I just got a black Blur LT today and wondering how the white ultimates will look. we'll see.
