so im looking into purchasing a new bike. I dont have that much cash for a newer bike.
I might just upgrade some components on my existing bike if I cant get a decent bike with my budget. I have around 500-600 for a new bike. here is one i saw on performance which ws on clearance, http://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=3050 also please leave some ideas if you know of some good bikes for a good deal. thanks ahead of time. . .

if u have to get it at Performance (probably due to buying on CC) get this bike, I think its much better. I have ridden it before and its decent. The only upgrade will be the fork, you can get one cheap somewhere, but wear out the stock one before you do that. I also went off curbs and such and its solid. The rear has an adjustable 3.5 to 4.5" travel adjustment that needs no tools.

Just so you know, at that price point you will get more for your money by buying a hardtail. You could get a FS but the components would suck.
The hardtail gives you hydro brakes, a decent fork and name brand components. The FS bike gives you crap components, a no-name rear shock and a low end fork. |

I say the OP should most definately keep a hardtail in consideration at that price point. |

I agree with SAR_Boats you can get a lot more bang for the buck with a hardtail if it's suitable for what you intend on riding. That IH Warrior has a MUCH better component spec than the others you're looking at, and it's a very good bike for the price. Plus it's going to weight a lot less and this makes a huge difference IMHO.
In the end it all depends on what kind of riding you want to do. If you are looking for something that's a more "all around" bike that can hit up the trails, bike paths, and even do some light commuting - get the hardtail. If you want to do more agressive trail riding, maybe save up for one of the Mongooses at Performance. |
