Default Regrets

So I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I can't afford the bike I really want but I can afford 2 other different bikes that I like. All 3 bikes feel very comfortable when I test rode them and I honestly couldn't feel that much of a difference in the way they rode.
Has anyone ever regretted getting a lower priced bike they liked because they couldn't afford the bike that was their number 1 choice?

yes-
but whats the build like on the three, if the one you really want has a better component group I would save for it, if its just overpriced because its cool screw it.

Post up your choices so everyone can confuse you more

IMHO if you like the frame you won't totally regret the purchase. Components can always be upgraded later when you have some money burning a hole in your pocket.

But to answer your question, yes you'll almost always second guess your purchase.

Thanks, that is kind of the situation I am in, the frames seem good but the components just aren't as good.
Thanks for the input.

dont buy the bike that its truely not the one you want, whenever you ride this thought will be in your sub concious. start saving up for the bike you want, thats what I did with my fuel trek ex 9, I wouldnt settle for anything less and I knew if I got a bike that I didnt really like, I wouldnt treat it with care, put the bike you want on lay away, and by the way which bikes do you like?

If it does not have to be a new ride I would watch the market place here on str.
There are some deals out there and some people will let some great bikes go
for a great price if they know they are going to a good home.

I've never had any regrets. A less capable bike forces you to be a better rider. Improving yourself is better than improving your bike.

The price difference between the three isn't that large -- save up a little longer and get the one you really want (I assume it's the most expensive one of those three).

Sigh* I sold my 07 teocali comp 2months ago for $350.. its a good bike but I'd say its a beginner type of thing... you would probably end up upgrading the entire bike...

I never thought of it that way, thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, the Force is the one I really want, I was looking at the two mongoose's and saw the force and it threw me off. The price on the links are incorrect for the mongoose's, I think they are both 899 which is why I was looking at them before, I was looking for bang for the buck kind of bike.

I have no problem upgrading at all actually and I figure I haven't ridden in a long time so I am a beginner again, did you like the bike?

Thanks for all of the responses guys.

I have the teocali super. Same frame as the comp, just better components. So upgrades will work if that is the route you take.

if they all ride the same, go with the lower parts package and upgrade to what you want later.

if the high-end one is all your dreams come true, then save up.

ask big hit aka danny if you can trail test his........... you will be in loooooooooove!

I am really starting to think that getting the mongoose and upgrading the components will be the best thing for me. I figure that way I will also be able to get the exact components I want.
Now I just have to figure out if I want the 07 or 08. Suggestions?

Thank you very much for the offer, I forgot to put that in the last posting. I am up in Orange about 2 times a month to hang out with my fiance's family, when I get some time I will let you know.

gt force...

if it takes the extra few weeks/month to save up, it'll be worth it. get what you want or else you'll end up regretting your decision...

Ya your bike was sweet Devin, just does not climb as well. Thanks for letting me test her out.The suspension is really plush and pretty firm when pedaling.
