Seriously though, I didnt read the other posts yet so if I am repeating others I apologize.

First it depends on your fitness level, if you can stay in a higher gear, and you have a good spin, get off the saddle and hammer that shit out.

If your fitness is good, but your in a low gear, stay seated, too much bounce in low gears either way.

If your fitness sucks, chances are your already in a low gear, so just stay seated unless you really need to get out of the saddle, just remember you need some weight on the rear for traction but also need some in teh front to keep the front down, Personally I like to come off the saddle, but not lean forward unless i need to.

Lastly, it will depend on the Geo of the bike your on, if your on a full blown DH bike, your not going to have much os a choice other than to get out of the saddle, if your on a full blown XC bike, you probably want to be out of the saddle. Everything inbetween will be personall preferance if you want to be in or out of the saddle
