See following information about National Trails Day 2006 on June 3rd. This is a great opprotunity to give back and to show that mountain bikers are good citizens.
USDA Forest Service Los Angeles River Ranger District National Trails Day 2006 DATE: June 3, 2006 TIME: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Registration 8:00 – 8:30 LOCATION: Meet at Red Box Station parking lot The USDA Forest Service and associated LARRD volunteer organizations will celebrate National Trails Day on June 3, 2006. The celebration will include 4-6 hours of trail work on the Red Box Trail System, and a Native American lunch behind the Haramokngna Indian Cultural Center. This event is sponsored by the Los Angeles River Ranger District. Lunch will be served at 1:00 pm, and will include a short Volunteer Recognition ceremony. This activity is open to all volunteers, including sponsored groups. Please let David Ledford know if you will bring your group and how many will be in your group. Those individuals who are volunteering for trail work for the first time, please identify yourself to the registrar, so we can arrange for a Trail Boss to provide instruction and proper tools. Please bring personal equipment listed below. Personal Equipment to Wear while working: Work gloves, work shoes, work clothes (long sleeve shirts and long pants), sun protection hat, Hard-hat (if available), personal first-aid kit including sun screen, water (2 Qt's.), and snacks. Directions: From 210 Fwy in La Canada, go north on Angeles Crest Hwy (2). Upon reaching Clear Creek Junction (9 miles) continue on Angeles Crest Hwy to Red Box Station (4 miles). Turn right off the Angeles Crest Hwy and park in the east parking lot (on the left). Allow 0.5 Hour Driving Time from the 210 Fwy. Carpool if possible.
