Default Why can't we have something like this here in socal?

http://www.woodwardmtbpark.com/Woodward.html

The mountain bike community is huge and diverse here and i'm sure it would recieve overwhelming support. The one major factor that I can only think of (but i'm sure is not limited to) is the availability of land. I'm certain that there are many here in the LA/OC area who are influential, experienced and knowledgeable in matters involving such an endeavor. What is the likelihood of something like this becoming a reality?

I love the progression concept that is implemented. (jumps and skills area for ALL skill levels) I haven't yet been to any major mtb park (aside from bootleg if it is considered one), and wonder if there are any nearby mtb parks in socal that provides the same as woodward.

Thanks in advance!

I just saw this testimonial on Hilride's website:

"Nat and Rachael are incredible - pleasant, yet focused, entertaining, yet effective. I am amazed at the effect they have had on our community in such a short time. People, even people on opposite sides of the fence, are talking about trails who have never talked before. People are better understanding the importance of trails and light bulbs are popping on over heads here in Big Bear.

-Randy Putz, Big Bear

So who turned the light bulbs off? I wonder how long ago that statement was? because it seems to me BB is getting less and less mtb friendly.

The word was for awhile around here in SW Riverside that VAILOCITY would be complete by October. Eric Carter is even seen on YOUTUBE riding at Vail Lake east of Temecula. The chatter has stopped however.

I just sent them an email to see if I can find out.

Here is the thread: Southern California Bike Park. The last entry from EC was on 8/8/08.

Here is the response I got back from them. The press release was from November, 2005!!!!!!

From: Rachael Lopes/Hilride [mailto:rachael@hilride.com]

To: Harris,Nancy D
Subject: Re: Hilride Information Request

Hello Nancy,

Sorry for my delayed response, we have been traveling the last couple of weeks.

My husband Nat and I worked in Big Bear when we were with the International Mountain Bicycling Association. We were one of their Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews and we spent a week in Big Bear working to find common ground and opportunities for a more sustainable trail network in the area. We worked with the Big Bear Lake Resort Association, the Forest Service and we met with the Resort and with Team Big Bear. We also had a meeting with local mountain bikers and spearheaded the beginning of the Big Bear Trail Alliance.

I've attached the press release that was sent out for that visit. I hope I have answered your questions.

Big Bear is a lovely place and we really enjoyed our time working and riding there.

Cheers,

Rachael

I doubt if Snow Summit would do it. Remember they got sued by a racer who had signed a waiver. Aren't they saying they are going to stop mtn bike losding any way?

yeah --here's a good reason

PS----also If you didnt know this (only for sue crazy So Cal residents)
if you INVITE a newbie to a bike ride and they crash and hurt themselves
on YOUR bike, they can sue YOU. Unless they sign a waiver. Be careful out
there people!

It's all ridable now at Vail lake. The big table tops, doubles, and downhills. Once it starts raining, it's going to be sweet.

You have to pedal to get to it though.

It seems that the lack of interest is really why we can't have such a park here in the OC? I mean look at San Diego.

http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=455384

It would be great if we can have something like Woodward, so again, why can't we have something like that here in the OC?
