i have a diamondback, and its great!

the last usa made bike i had was a 98 c'dale f-1000, i was working for a dealer at the time, and it broke within 30 days. made in usa. would not warrantee. said i abused it, and i only rode it to work and at fully. its not about where its built, its 100% your cs rep! our girl was a c-word, and i got nothing from them for my bb shell breaking at all welds and falling out of the frame during a seated climb.

"and thats all i have to say about that" - forest gump.

I think R.C. is a little off base.

Giant does make Santa Cruz but Meridia makes Specialized and Another company makes trek

"Specialized - Started in 1974 by Mike Sinyard, Specialized has enjoyed a long-standing reputation for being a leading bicycle design and marketing company.

Several years ago, Merida (a Taiwanese manufacturer) bought a substantial interest in Specialized. Although Specialized is still headquartered in California under the leadership of founder Mike Sinyard, all bikes are made in Asia. Key Asian suppliers are Merida, Ideal, and Giant."

Hey don't get any ideas I don't go that way.

You know what I mean.

Paging any other CS reps any one any one?

We do have some great reps on here for some great brands.
I enjoy hanging out with them. All are really cool.

With so many great bikes comming out it is hard to say what bikes are the best.
I would like to think we offer great customer service on the bikes that we offer.

To keep on topic I would like to say don't worry about where the bike is made just find a bike that fits you and your budget. Buy the best you can afford.
Shop around. Quality speeks for itself.

Jason

First of all, thanks to everyone who responded for their thoughtful comments and insight. I too am of the belief that the "Made in the USA" still means something. Even though my Giant's frame is beautifully put together and I love everything about it-- I still look fondly at the little sticker on my steel Bontrager Racelite that reads "Handmade in Santa Cruz, CA". There is a certain mystique IMO about having that sticker on the downtube. But ultimately, when I'm out on my Giant ripping singletrack with a big smile on my face, I really don't think about where it's made. Thanks again everyone!

Problem is that guy is a roadie, and did not cover any of the cool brands.

I have one bike made in the USA ('97 stumpy), italian ('78 olmo), and a bike made in taiwan, I love that a 13 year old welded my frame together. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

me too. I like to think that I'm supporting the US and the economy in a small, miniscule way when I buy Made in the USA stuff. All factors being equal, I'll pay a "reasonable amount" more for the "Made in the USA" sticker (e.g. Intense)...

Bud isn't owned by Americans anymorewelcome to consumerville

(CNN) -- Philip McClary was grilling out at his home in suburban St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday night when he heard hometown brewer Anheuser-Busch would be bought by the Belgian company InBev.
"I was actually drinking a Bud Light when I heard, and I couldn't even finish it. That's the honest-to-God truth," he said Monday.
"I was proud to drink Budweiser, not any more," said P.J. Champion, a student at the University of Mississippi who said the brew is "a great piece of American history."
McClary put Champion's thoughts to music, posting his song "Kiss Our Glass" on YouTube and on a Web site that tried to stop the sale, SaveBudweiser.com. Watch McClary sing 'Kiss our Glass' »
"America is not for sale, and neither is her beer," McClary sings.
"All you hard-working Americans stand up and show some class," the song continues, "Have a drink with Mother Freedom, and tell InBev to kiss your glass."

China if the price point is any indication, but most Pacific production is handled by Giant so likely Taiwan..

Makes you wonder how anyone here in the USA can compete with a production line, manufacture, quality, and pricing like this...

Hmmmm ...

I've got two bikes that were designed in Switzerland and made in Indonesia but they do SAY U.S.A. on them

My wife's two bikes were designed in the U.S. and one, the Kona, was built in Taiwan and the C'Dale was "Hand Built In The U.S.A."

My roadie, the Bianchi, was designed and hand built in Italy.

I do like to buy things that are American made but some of the Italian made stuff, ie. bikes, cars and women, are very nice as well

If I buy a bike made in anywhere else it is because I like the ride and it has a low(er) price
