This has always been my main biatch with IMBA. Why go after this trail and that trail. Why not go for the big prize and change the classsification of what mountain biking is? Now with the FS coming to their collective sences we are finally moving foward but we will still have some within the likes of the Sierra Club who feel it has to be only their way or no way. Most FS people know exactly what mountain bikers do for the trails ( we use them which also helps to maintain them) true there is some breaking down of the trails from use but it's easily fixed and they know how often we as mtb'ers are to volunteer to help with trail repair and maintenance. I'm suprized that we have the FS coming foward to suggest that we as users maybe a good thing for the trails.

It might not be that far in the future where we may be able to ride the PCT. Wouldn't that be the ultimate ride...riding the PCT from Canada to Mexico almost entirely on dirt?

Last week when I was there I saw 5 other people get on the lift, and only saw them once. But I did see other downhillers shuttling in 2 trucks and few others out on the trails without lift wristbands. I'm guessing the locals just shuttle it. Heck it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a few local high school kids phone numbers and ask if they would be interested in making a few bucks to shuttle riders, not a bad job for them either...

It would be nice if the National Park Service would consider allowing bikes on the trails. I wonder if this new rule by the Forest Service means we will be able to bike in the Inyo National Forest or other Sierra national forests sometime in the next few years? I don't see how we can do more damage than pack animals.

We all do different things like you said shuttle, but there are also other great places to ride in BB. A lot of train by riding up those fire roads then ride trails down.
