By the time I got through the gates, almost everything was taken. The first groups basically ran in and had someone grab everything off the pallet or table. Once they had their pallet of stuff, the went over to a corner and sifted through what they wanted to keep and what they didn't. All I was able to get was a Hussefelt stem, a T-shirt and a Camelback. The line up for it went down Carlos Ave. and around the first corner, LOTS of people. I think next year, I'm gonna go riding instead.

It has gotten worse and worse every year. Last year I was one of the first 5 people through the gate and still barely got anything. I was able to score a couple deals, but within 5 minutes the parking lot looked like a de-militarized zone.

5 of us were in the first 10 of the line (myself, brewmaster, chewyeti, onlyontwo, freekengo)
I know at least 3 of us walked out of there empty handed. I recall a joke being "when's the next path sale?" However, if you were in the market for a complete bike, you were in luck. Really disappointed this year but there was good deals to be found. Whether you wanted to wait in line for them was the question. There was much more people this year compared to last year's. I went for a fox fork and tires for both of my bikes, both things I saw plenty of last year, but they couldn't be found today. Yes, we were some of the "hoarders", and a good chunk of it got put back.

And last year had way more people than the year before and so on and so on. I'm afraid it might have run it's course in terms of being worth the trouble--at least for anyone who has to drive any distance to get there.

Got an EA70 stem 6d x 90mm x 31.8
for about 20 smackaroos and change.Arrived at noon and it looked like a tornado went through there. There was a few left-over scavengers and vendors packing up when I left. It was scorching hot!

Huh?

I got there at 8 and the line was already down the street. I was able to snag a couple things, some cranksets, juicy, and brake levers. Next time I need to go earlier to snag the better deals.
1. Picked up the Stylo for 40 bucks 2. Still building it up. |

Just another slacker.

Got there at 7am and the line was halfway through the parking lot already. I was looking for a stem and handlebar, but as soon as I walked through the gate my ADD got the best of me. I started looking at cassettes, derailleurs, etc. Things I could use but didn't really need.
It sucked, please don't go next year. Things I got: Mavic 823's with Syncros Factory Hubs, Maxxis High Roller UST 2.7 & 2.5, plus 8" Hayes rotors, SRAM 990 cassette for 150. I think the rear hub is a 150mm though. Fox Float RP3 -$60 Salsa 50mm stem - 20 Hope 185 2 piece rotor - 15 Various Royal jersey's - 5 each There was so much stuff there, but within 3 mins, you couldn't even move around. It was that packed, I couldn't get over to the wheelsets. Some dude decided he didn't want his wheelset so I ended up splitting the wheelset with Andy cause he just wanted the cassette and tires. The dude was a friend of his I think. Next year? Tough call, I thought we did well, but you probably have to show up at the crack of dawn and have an army with you. To Jenson's crew, you guys did a great job. The place was very well organized and all the take off stuff was easy to see. The line went faster than it looked. I think it took us 30 mins to check out but the line looked like it would take an hour. I don't think there's anything you can do with a crowd like that, it's a mob. Everyone's looking for a deal, at least nobody got hurt. |

There was a line forming well before 6:00. It ended up down the street and around the corner. You could actually see the beginning of the line and the end of the line from inside the parking lot. There was a TON of awesome deals, but seriously if you're not one of the first 100 people through the gate, you're not going to get anything good. There was a Cross Check that went a little later in the day and I thought it would have been one of the first to go. It was only $300.

The hoarding is what killed it. I got there at 8 and waited halfway down the block. As soon as they started lettin people in, it was just like the wedding dress video, except no one was trading. The crowds were so thick I couldn't see anything, and when i got to the pallets, only a few rims were left. People in the corners and against walls with piles of stuff. I scored a few rims, a talas rebuild kit, rotor adapter, a chainring, and a seat clamp. It sucks that I see the stuff I was lookin for keep walking by again and again on someone else's shoulder. As I was checking out, I saw some dude buying 7 forks!! No doubt it's going to ebay...... Kinda like the people buying up the world series tickets to turn a profit, leaving the real fans SOL.
If you don't plan on bringing a sleeping bag, don't bother going.

The deal for me was outside the lot where the tents are. Went to the Finish Line tent and needed some chain lube. The friendly person didn't have change so he made a nice 20 pack for me.
Wow! Pretty impressed as he kept stuffing the bag saying it wasn't a deal yet, it wasn't a deal yet. Walked out smiling! |
