Default Heading to Mammoth on the 11th-best places to stay? Best pubs?

I'm taking the Sanction up there and see how much she can really handle. I'll be there two nights. The resort packages look pretty good. I thing the MMI is the cheapest. Thanks in advance.

Hennessey's closed up shop this summer, gone! The Village has been rasing its rates, forcing some shops to move to a new location or just pack up and leave town.

Oh yeah...Westin has a second happy hour after I think it was 10PM, lots of local scenery!

Its to bad about Hennessey's, The Village retail has a high vacancy rate, many stores closed, dam the economy. MTB ridership down over 15% this year.

Lets hope things pick up The Village its one of my favorite places to stay, very centralized, and shuttle pick up at your front door.

It had a lot to do with empty promises from Intrawest/Mammoth Mountain. Many of the shops in the village Hennessey's included were promised parking a long time ago and they haven't done anything about it. The property owner where everyone used to park shut down the lot around the same time rent was raised. Plus things are slowing down up there so they said adios.

The Auld Dubliner is a good pub in the village, the clocktower across the street is also a fun bar as well as lakanuki. Austria hoff mentioned above has a great happy hour with free appetizers (not sure about summer) as well as rooms and a good German restaurant. Which is right where shotgun, bullet, big ring and follow me all end. Have fun up there I might try to sneak up there this weekend.

I'm a newbie too! I'll be leaving Thursday from LA most likely and get up there around 7pm or so. I'm staying at the Econolodge. Will be leaving Saturday after a day of riding. Let me know if you guys want to meet up. I hate riding alone.

Holiday Haus is the cheapest place I've found. $65-ish a night gets you 2 queen beds. It is a 1 minute pedal to the Village.

But it's 5 miles away! My friends are all staying there but they're on motorcycles.
