Great weather today for racing a marathon ( 7 laps @ 7+ miles = ~49+ miles), not hot and not sunny, yet not cold or chilly, pretty much perfect XC racing weather.
The whole venue is set up great! tons of companies out here with their company trailers, most name brands you see in a LBS are present! (i have pix of the booths that i'll post later) The XC/Marathon course start/finish is right in front along with the mountain cross course just a few steps away, very spectator friendly, everything else will require a bit of a hike. I didn't know which racer was Padre, so hopefully he came out in opne of the pix. Here are some pix of the Marathon racers right before they started: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey DINO, i got you a Santa Cruz poster, just in case you may want one. See you guys out there! ![]()

Saw the Trials Competition today, those guys are pretty talented. the comeptitors had to compete in 3 different obstacle sections, not too many competed which made for a very short spectator experience (i didn't take any pix, sorry guys).
I met up & hung out with Shinkin, RIDE2LIVE, Cyclecc, & Dirttorpeedo plus his son. I also bumped into LandShark, Mtnbikedude87, Mtbracer36 & Gurp13. Dirtttorpeedo got 1st place in the Men's Sport DH; his son got 2nd in his DH category (not sure which one) & Mtbracer36 mentioned he got 6th oin his DH category as well Great job guys!! I'll be out there tomorrow also!! Here's link to more pix of the Nationals from MBA Action: Mountain bike action

I've also decided that maybe I should get a single speed bike. As long as that single speed is a granny gear. ![]()

HEY...the fact that you raced says it all and you've never been one to give up...be proud. I rode the course yesterday in the clinic ... those sandy and rutted sections were an absolute Biatch...
!!! Saw a few experienced riders gettin' there butts kicked on some of those other sections, too. High five to ya, Glenn Quote:

![]() thanks to all my freinds that came out to cheer for myself and my son tyler! it started out as a perfect weekend friday off from work, paid vaca. of course, practice on friday went well for us, minor falls, dumb mistakes, but it went well.the course was rather tame. came home friday nite, cleaned the chains, made some suspention adjustments on the boys bike.everything was good to go for sat. GOT up in the middle of the nite (6am) loaded up the bikes and went racing. we took a couple of pratice runs, checked the machinery. and took of for the start.of all the races i've done, this one i get friggen flutterbies.oh well, they called my name and i'm up in 1min., then 30secs. ok i'm up,starter says GO ON THE 6th BEEP. i timed it perfect,i was rolling off the start while num. 6 was going.i was breathing so hard on the upper part of the course, you feel like your going to hyperventilate. you've gotta calm down so you dont burn out, or worse make a mistake. i made it throo all the obstacles, throo the rocks at the top, then down to one of my favorite parts of the course,a 15/20 foot table top jump, of course there's a guy with the big telefoto lens ,remember style points are everything,.... BUT i stayed low, with style tho.(chicks dig style) and scarres.throo all the rocks and to the dreaded WALLOF NO OXYGEN. you've got to pedal your ass off here because if the next racer can, you've just lost another position to tenths of a second. i picked a line throo the last rock section i'd not done in practice,it worked perfect, then pedaled the wall section to the finish. i cant think of a more perfect d/h run i've put together in my life, but i knew that was it! I BEAT the boy by 4sec. a little father/son rivalry. he finished second 16& under beg. THANKS EVERYONE ! fisrt 1st. place i've ever gotten in my short 16 year d/h carrer,by 8tenths of a sec.
