Default What's up with Ellsworth?

Seriously, they are licensing their "ICT" technology to Iron Horse, and I keep hearing rumors about a dire financial situation with them. I wonder if the company is in as bad as shape as some people are saying.

I hear they are doing pretty bad. Their bikes are too expensive compared to other similar bikes with similar specs. And I honestly don't think that them licensing their ICT to IH is going to help them at all. If anything its going to make a bunch of people go buy IH instead of Ells, as they have a much stronger following. Just my 2 cents

But Ells will get paid with every frame that IH makes without laying out any costs. It brings cash flow which is what struggling businesses need.

Ellsworth has decided to close down their in house manufacturing and go back to sourcing their frames to a 3rd party. Smart move because they can lower their cost, increase quality and hopefully start selling their frames for less.

I hope they make it......nice bikes!

I don't think anyone who has a business in Socal these days is cruising.

Luxury bikes are not selling as well as they have the last five years.

I think there might be a chance that Specialized will start mass producing unicycles...and Turner is making a Big Wheel Dh kids scooter too. The liscensing is true but...pfffffft.... the rest...conspiracy theory people!!!

If my own business is any indication, this is absolutely true. Slowest i've ever been in 12 years, by FAR.
Brutal.

I'm glad I was able to buy a new bike earlier this year. Now I want to get a freeride/dh bike, but God knows when that will be possible. Hopefully things will improve in 2009!
