Smile Any word on the High School mountain bike thing

I saw that post a little while back and was super excited. Just wondering if there are any updates. Or anything I could do to help!

Perhaps these are the areas that should be targeted most. A lot of these kids would probobly never ride anything more than a $20 yardsale bike. Learning to ride/preserve trails, etc. is a great outlet for at-risk or underprivileged kids...Outdoor Outreach in SD has proven this sucessful. Zoic did a holiday ride (instead of a company Christmas party) with Outdoor Outreach that I got to ride in, and the excitement these kids showed was pretty cool. More programs would be sweet.

Default RBV HS Mtn Biking in PE Class!!

My son had a surprise for me from his first day of school today -- he got into a PE class that's going to be mtn biking three days a week! I hadn't heard anything about this, and the school's website is down at the moment...first day of school ...probably overloaded. Anyway, he says the school has 40 mountain bikes. I assume they're donated and can't imagine the donor not getting in a newspaper story about it (couldn't raise anything with google tho).

I'll try to find out more this week. The school is Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista (North SD County). It's a short road ride from there to the Lake Calavera trails, which have lots of variety. It's a two-hour class so there's time for a fair amount of fun.

He hasn't been biking in years, and I think has been intimidated to try with me and my friends (even though we sometimes bring other kids). But he signed up, and we'll be getting him a new helmet & gloves tomorrow.
I'll try to find out if the PE teacher knows about the new SoCal League.

We used to backpack together, and I had given up hope of him taking up mtn biking. He got older, got interested in girls...I'm sure a lot of you dads know how it goes.

I hope he likes it. I could justify a mtn bike vacation easier if someone else in the family did it!
