Just curious my housemate set up these hooks grabbing the front tire in the workout room to help store some of our bikes.
My friend mentioned the other day there could be issues leaving them in this position? Any thoughts on that is he right? ![]()

I've got a friend who has been hanging over 15 bikes from his roof with no damage at all. I think you'll be fine.

they say dont hang them upside down casue the fluid in the fork will slowly leak past the seals, Dont worry about it if the fluid did leak past, your seals are bad anyways.
plus they are hanging vertical and they will be fine No worries! |

I don't see a problem with that method. It's the way I hang my bikes and hung my ex in the garage and both always seemed to work fine after removing from hooks with the only difference being, the bikes were ready to roll but she'd need a few minutes to stretch out to get things flowing again.

One issue I can think of is if you have a hydraulic front brake that is not completely bled, you may find the brake lever goes all the way to the grip the first few squeezes. It usually goes away with several squeezes after being upright.
The back brake looks like it may be ok. |

![]() Actually, hanging the bikes like that is good for the fork seals, as it allows the fluid to get into the seals as well as soak into the foam wipers. Some forks that have leaking problems - such as many newer Rock Shox forks with the Motion Control system - will leak fluid through the center adjuster. Also, it isn't common for people who hand their bikes this way to find that their hydraulic brakes suddenly don't work. This is usually because there is an air bubble in the system that doesn't show up when the bike is stored in the normal position. If this occurs, bleed the brakes.

I hung my 2001 Specialized FSR dualie upside-down for a few weeks. I noticed that when I took it for a ride, the fork didn't rebound like it should. Then, after about 10 minutes or so it started rebounding like normal. So, in my case, I think the fluid pooled up at the top of the fork and took a little while to come all the way back down.
