Default Weird sighting in Cleveland National Forest

So a friend of mine sent me this link. Zoom in on it and tell me what you think it is. Looks to be located off the Main Divide between Blackstar and Silverado Motorway. I know there have been some pot farms busted up there and maybe this was one?http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=33.78...z=15&t=h&hl=en

Maybe just re-seeding by the Forest Service.
You'd need a source of water for a pot farm.

The bushes turn brown with the season.

All the better to avoid riding into trouble.

I'd rather see Art Tuttle than a pot farmer with an automatic weapon.

Riding along the MD, Chewyeti and I saw a guy taking shots with his rifle over the ridge. We had no idea what he was shooting at and we didn't stop to ask. This was going from Skyline to Sierra Peak, so not quite the same area as far as I can tell. Still, it was somewhat strange to ride in the direction the guy had been shooting, leaving him at our back. When we cleared the ridge and were out of range, I felt much better.

The singletrack/fire road surrounding the groves and close proximity to the water tank (?) are likely too "obvious" for guerrilla growing. Also, the plants appear tree-sized. Maybe it's on old citrus/avocado operation???

If it's private property that's their business, not ours.

It's in the CNF I believe, so I don't think it's private property, unless its an old grandfathered lease or something. Either way, I don't think I'm violating anyone's privacy.

As far as I know the forest is still closed to the motorway so it would be trespassing to investigate. I don't smell any skunk here for too many reasons.

1. Water, for good grass you must irrigate

2. The forestry service is actively reseeding the area, so they are the likely culprit.

3. Stativa grows taller and leaner, it would take excessive pruning to get them stocky and bushy

4. Location though it's good for sunlight only and idiot would plant on an open ridge. This is because of helicopter patrols around harvest time.

A gorilla grower will utilize a canopy or netting to camo the location and use a canyon or natural drainage so gravity can take care of irrigation.

Anyway this is like one of those magic eye pictures, if you stare long enough all kinds of things pop out at you.

I don't think those images are updated too frequently. I often see things like progress on construction projects that show the images to be as much as a few years old in many cases.

I agree, could be several years old, but still holds the same curiosity for me.
