Default LPQ MOnday (7/21)?

Anyone? I'm heading out sometime today for 2 hours. I'll be hitting all the side climbs I can think of and chillin' down the valley in between.

Company would be nice. Most people should be able to stick with me on the flat sections and the climbs will be simply out and back so you can just turn around when I pass you as I head back down. Tunnels if you want.

PM, Email or call (714) 348-8353
Eric

BUMP. Looking at a start time around 5-ish. East or West end. You call it.

I work nights on Mondays, so I'm out. Otherwise I'd be in. Have fun.

And you say that "you can turn around as I pass you on the way down" line like you're really fast or something.

Sorry. How about "climbs are out and back, so we're sure to find each other if our speeds don't match"?

I know you're joking with me, but I probably could have said that in a nicer way.

I was just funnin' with you. I thought it was worded OK. Nothing wrong with being honest. You're one fast MoFo--unless of course your light dies and then you're at my mercy!!!

No sweat. Riding from the West parking lot. I'll be in the UCSD cycling team kit. Yeah...I wear lycra.

apparently i was the tunnels mechanic today. i removed a rear der. creating a single speed in the process and helped fix a front chainring gone astray.

btw, is it me or has anyone else noticed the IMMENSE clipping of the trees in tunnels during the last week? I really noticed it in the tunnel directly from the eucalyptus trees... the one you climb up if you went down the rockinghorse trail. there were fresh clippings and horse poop too, yay. I'm totally stoked that area is now becoming a friggin' wide highway.... i guess i'll just open my bike shop on the side of the highway.

guess i missed ya out there man... i was wearing the blk fox shirt with the super-cool black fox baggies. they make me feel kinda cool, especially in black.

Yeah I noticed this today too. Sort of hard to miss it when all the branches keep getting caught up in your brakes and spokes. Lots of cuts on my legs also.

Don't mind the trailwork but sure wish the branches weren't just left in the middle of the trail. I moved a few out of the way but was running out of daylight. Will try to get more of them out of the way if I can get back there this week.

i do mind the trailwork... i don't really call that trailwork. That place should not have horses in it unless it is severly changed... that shouldn't happen.

I agree that section of trail should be off limits to horses. I'm not sure why they want to go there in the first place as seems a bit too cramped for horses anyway. There are tons of trails for in the area for horses, just once I wish there could be some that were only open to MTBers (ok hikers too).

Given there were some other obvious work there besides branch cutting (like the silly little rocks lined up along some sections of the trail), I didn't at first think this was really the work of the horse crowd. But maybe it is since all the low hanging branches would be much more of a pain for people riding tall in the saddle.

Regardless, there was obvious use and abuse going on. Something's gonna have to give one of these days.....

Good stuff, thanks for the tip and education. I will be on the look out next time armed with a camera. I've only lived in the area for about 8 months now and the Tunnels are one of the most unique and fun trails I've ridden so far. Would like to help keep it that way.
