Just bought an Epiphany frame and have just one long ride to tell about it.
I swapped over the parts from a SC Blur (Size-Medium) onto the "E" I am 5'9" 1/2 at 200 lbs. Just your averaqe XC guy who likes to ride3-5 times a week with an average loop of 18-22 miles. In comparison, the size is a huge difference. The Shop told me, over 3 yrs ago, that the Medium Blur would be a great bike. It has been but, with a few glitches. The bike really isn't made for a lard asz, like myself. I broke some parts the first year which really should not have happened. So, this past year or so I've been shopping. The same story. Expensive bike and not really getting a chance to ride/test/demo before I buy. BLAH< BLAH< BLAH. The "E" is a pretty bitchen bike. The Large frame I got is awesome. It looks really long, maybe to long. But, it is perfect for the ups and downs with tons of room in the cockpit. It had the feeling on the up/down hills of something very deliberate. (Instead of bouncing around/tweaking all over the place) It has a very plush ride and the downhill through the rocks, ruts and roots seem to just glide under me. The length keeps me from pulling up and getting a response like before making the suspension really work. In time, I will be able to pull it up when I want.? The bike has a stout feeling. Moreso than the Blur. I've been happy so far and look forward to riding it with some of the STR crew this summer. ![]() I would have liked to try the Turner 5 spot but never made it. ![]()

If I were making the recommendation for the bike for someone who is having problems with durability I probably would have not recommended the Epiphany. I would think a Moment would be a better frame for you rather than the Epiphany. The Epipahny is probably the same wieght as your old Blur. Nevertheless, the Epiphany looks to be cool ride. It looks like you are up in the Central Coast, I was up in SLO last weekend, and was checking out Cambria Bikes. One of the shop guys was pissed at all the rain they have been getting up there.

[/quote]Hey Buzz, I think you made the right decision. I hope the size works out for you. I'm 6' and I used to ride a Med. Truth. I now ride a Large SC Nomad and I've noticed the sizing on E's to be bigger than SC. You may want to get a shorter stem if you're having problems lofting the front. I've also had the opportunity to ride both the Epiphany and 5Spot. I like the Epiphany better, climbs like a goat as the say. The rear end stays down and offers plenty of traction. From what other owners are posting on mtbr, the Epiphany has been coming in at 24-25lbs. That's not to say the 5Spot is a bad bike, I think the Epiphany's a little better. Enjoy and post some more reviews when you have more time on it. BTW, the Nomad ROCKS! ![]() |
