So I loaded my bike up on Friday morning and watched it leave on a trailer bound for Portland and then on to Wisconsin. Not having it here (or under me) is killing me. It won't be back for 3 weeks! I'll be on family vacation for one of those weeks, but still... ARGH!
I have to be at both places to support some races (car) and thought it would be a great opportunity to get in some riding in far off lands. There is lots of down time between on-track activities, so I should get in 3 or 4 good rides at each place. Any trail suggestions? (In Wisconsin I'll be at Road America in a city called Elkhart Lake)

I know this isn't exactly close to Elkhart Lake. If you do have time, you should check out the Southern Kettle Moraine trails (John Muir and Emma Carlin). It's probably the most popular trail system in the state, with lots of riders from Northern Illinois traveling up during the weekends.
I haven't ridden it in well over ten years, so I can't really say what it's like these days. The natural terrain in the area is generally flat singletrack with rolling hills. There are some steep, but short climbs and descents........nothing too difficult, though. I've included a couple of links below.....check them out! Have a great time in WI, and make sure to enjoy all the great microbrews! ![]() http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/Org/land/...ls.html#biking http://www.trailville.com/wiki/index...hn_Muir_Trails |

So is this an excuse not to ride with us on Thursday?
I don't have any trail suggestions for Lake Elkhart but I thought I would share that years ago (1982) I got to drive an IMSA GTP car around Road America. I think it was like 3 or 4 laps. My first wife's brother was a road racer and able to get me on the track. ![]()
