i'm planning to swap out my rear shock (dhx air) on my 6point for a coil shock. i've been doing some reading and many people swear by replacing with a rear shock that does not have a pedal platform. apparantely the DW-link solves the problem of needing a platform for pedal efficiency. originally i thought of just purchasing a dhx 5.0 but this no platform stuff has really intrigued me. pros: many people say the small bump performance is far superior, and it would feel so much more plush on the DH.
as far as my riding is concerned i love to DH, in fact i race at fontana with my 6point (can't wait till next season). i do pedal and ride trails with my bike as well, for fitness purposes. usually when i go DH i have to pedal uphill, i'm no weight weenie i don't really care about climbing performance as much as the pleasure of retaining high speeds on some nice techy DH, i never have a smile on my face during a climb, only a grin. but, when riding DH i can't take the smile off my face, speed truely does thrill. anyways my question is what are the options in rear shocks? i've heard a lot of recommendation for mazocchi roco WC, fox coil float (although this is discontinued? can't seem to find them anywhere). how about the fox van? i don't know if rock shox offer non platform shocks. any input would be greatly appreciated, especially from those who run non platform shocks with DW-link. thank you.

I would call Tani at the Path He had a 6 point with a Pushed DHX coil on it for a freeride bike, so he could probably offer you some assistance with your shock choices... ![]()

All I can add is, don't get the VanillaR. i have one and dont like it. it doesn't offer nearly enough tuning for my liking. If you're into downhill this is not a good option. Nor is it really an upgrade from anything. It's a pretty basic shock. Just my two cents
