Thumbs up Sanjay's THE MAN!!

For those of you that don't know Sanjay, he's one of the many cool dude's working at The Path.
He's a full-on, high speed, go fast, high in the air type of guy.

Read here for more..... http://www.transcendmagazine.com/arc...s-great-a.html

I've know Sanjay for a lot of years.
Back in the day when he was doing the big "V" on a freak'n Jamis Dakar, with 4 inches of travel. I've lost count on how many times I'd see him at the shop with a broken part, frame, wheel, in hand.

Although before he started working at the shop, I'd never really got to spend much time talking with him.
He always took the time to say "hey" to the "crazy old guy" (me) whenever I'd see him.

Since he's been there I've gotten to know him fairly well, and am proud to call him a friend.

Most of you have seen my post's of taking my son Jake and his friend Chris out for rides.

Los Flores Long Loop w/ Big Guy

Rim Nordic With xc burr & The Boy's!

On these rides Chris has always borrowed one of Jake's bikes. Chris has a bike, but let's just say that it's good for riding around the neighborhood, but wouldn't be my first choice for him to go on the trail with.

A few week's back Jake told me that Chris's Mom wanted to buy him a new bike.

Cool!

Jake and I met up with Chris and his Mom down at The Path to check out bikes.
Now, WE all know how much a good bike will cost, and are willing to pay the price, know the fullfillment that it will bring on the trails.
Chris's Mom about went into sticker shock!
Even with Tani offering a demo bike at 50% off of the retail price.
This was gonna be tough.
But you have to understand, that he is young, and still growing, and new to the whole MTBing scene. And as a parent you don't want to go throw down $1800 on a bike that might just end up sitting in the garage.

So, we're standing outside of the shop talking over opptions for a used bike.
E-Bay, Craigslist, you get the point.
And then out walks Sanjay, and the conversation kinda went like this........

Me - hey Sanjay, you got a used bike you want to get rid of cheap? Jake's buddy Chris need's a bike.
Chris, meet Sanjay. You guy's are around the same height, so if you've got one, it should fit him.
Sanjay - Yeah, you know, I've got an 18" full suspension XC frame at home that I could build up with some left over parts, and let him have it for around $650.
Me to Chris & his Mom - You guy's cool with that? Sure.

So, they went on vacation over 4th of July, and Sanjay started the build. I saw Sanjay after he got the bike built up, and could not believe my eye's!
Me - "Are you sure you want to sell that for just $650?"
Sanjay - " na, you know, it didn't cost that much to build it up, and I'd really like to help him out getting into riding. He's a kid ya know. Tell him $550."

So, I took Chris down to the shop, and he pedaled it around some.
You should have seen the smile on this kid's face!
It needed new chainrings, so he was gonna have to wait a few more days.

I picked the bike up for him yesterday and dropped it off at his house. This morning he rode over and gave me the money to take to Sanjay, and he said to make sure to tell him thanks again.

THANK'S SANJAY!!!!

Chris can't wait for Jake to come home from Cabo so they can go RIDE!!
