That Monocog is hard to beat. I paid almost twice that for my last wheel set.

I love my ss, but those dam niners just set me up so high I get a bloody nose from the high altitude.

really? which ones have you ridden?

The Ninerbikes, and my Inbred, have killer standover height....silly low, with a pretty low bottom bracket. Something like a Karate Monkey I dont like....but other than that, I seem so really find no downside in terms of center of balance at all....if anything, improved balance.

yea....i have been trading PMs with another STR member....he was asking on what SS to get. he has (or had?) a VERY limited budget, so i recommended;

the redline, regular 26"er (about $420) and the 29er ($470)
the on-one inbreds (about $850 thru webcyclery)

i think he wants niner one9 or sir9 though!!! so much for being on a budget!

pain freak....what 29er did you sit on??? a 29er should rid higher than another bike. the bb drop makes up for the big wheels. the only thing that really differs is the wheelbase, and that isn't by a huge amount.

stuff from niner, ventana, on-one and others actually have really low standover numbers.

if he is anything like you and I, God help him.....he will quickly realize that the easiest way to justify what you are doing is on a "budget", is to compare it to something else....like a Custom Ti Jeff Jones in which case the Niner or SIR is a fantastic deal!

It's funny how the definition of "budget" changes as the disease takes over isn't it?

If you look at my history of buying bikes since I took up mountain biking, the smart money is on that i will not make it.

LOL.....

yeah, the pool i was thinking about starting was not so much "if" you would buy a new bike but rather, "by when" that new bike would be purchased this year

I appreciate the support.

On a serious note I am way happy with my One-9 and don't see replacing it. If I was to do anything, I might re-work/re-place both the front and rear suspensions on my 5-spot. I'm thinkin suspensions may have improved in the 3 plus years since I bought that bike..

No doubt....I was not thinking about you replacing the Ninberbike at all....that is sweet. Mine is being rebuilt today using the warranty replacement frame.

what suspension you got going on the Turner?

After all this talk, I'd really like to try a SS. I think I would do well since I love to push the big gears on my geared rig. I think the worse part would be descending with having no suspension. We'll see......

Dean, you should most def the get FOX DHX AIR, its new to me but I love the shock and its super plush. Also look into the 5.3inch rockers since your is couple years older.

Yes on both counts, but maybe the Coil DHX and although I like my DUC it has a ton of brake drive. Front Fork must be a through axle.

You can ride my One-9 anytime you want.

if it were me, which it aint, i would the get the PIKE up front since you can convert to 20mm from 24mm I assume. Then have the Pike sent to PUSH Industries and you will have THE bomb of a fork yo'
