Default Vail Lake Resort

About 4 years ago I took the family camping here. Much to my surprise I found that the trails were closed to access due to "insurance" reasons. Fast Forward - I have seen a number of posts this year about the rides and races at Vail Lake Resort so I assume they have opened up the trails.
My question - has anyone camped out there recently? My previous experience there was just ok - thought the people were a little less than friendly. Perhaps that has changed. Any feedback would be appreciated. Planning a possible return visit with the bike this weekend.
thanks !

We were there last month and I thought it was a great campground. We stayed in the Oaks area. I thought the people who worked there were very friendly.
I didn't take my bike, but we saw plenty of cars with bikes entering the campground.

I have yet to ride there but they have a weekly series
Racers & Chasers and I have heard folks say good things about camping out there. They are also trying to get some Dh going (Vailocity) as well but have not heard much on that in a while ...

I have been considering taking the kids and wife out there for a weekend as well but not 'till the heat calms down a bit.

It has been a great venue for the 12 Hours of Temecula races.

Call Vail Lake Resort @ 866-824-5525, and if you get a lady with an accent it is more than likely Isela. She's very nice and seems very accommodating.

Have fun in the heat...

Thumbs up

We camp there at least 6 times a year (for mtb races)! Oaks is a nice area in the campground with tons of Oak Trees for shade.Full hook-ups, bathrooms, showers and laundry

Look at the geoladders website for trails there are tons (although most will be race course mapped), pretty exposed though, not any shade or trees on the trails.

Plenty for the family to do: VailLakeResort
Water slide
2 Pools
Mini golf
Live Music on the weekends
They have a lake too, but I think it's private you have to be a member (I could be wrong)

Kinda Pricy but always a nice getaway.

The helpfulness of the staff has really changed from okay to GREAT within the 3 years we've been going.

Give em another try.Although this weekend will be hot hot hot!

Oh yeah... watch out for rattlers. It's their type of country, for sure. Willie nearly ran over one riding down to the pool that day after the last 12 Hours race. Freaked him out a little, but he soon forgot about it.

Not saying that to scare ye, just be wary (as always, right?...).

I ran the 24 hour there. The Dam climb is loose, but once you get to the top, hang a left & get ready for a great down hill run, Good luck it might be really hot this week end.
