Default Help! Is there a DERMATOLOGIST in the house?!

Hey gang,

So I've been developing some sort of rash and it's spreading all over. All joking aside, I really need to find out what this is.

They're basically "light" spots that seem to develop looking like small spots of dry skin. Then they stay lighter in color.

It doesn't look like vitiligo (the thing that makes "white" spots on african americans), but I'm not sure what it is. They don't seem to itch very much...maybe slightly sometimes.

Any idea???

looks like it might be some sort of fungus. it's kinda hard to tell from the pics but that's what it looks like to me. easy enough to clear up if that's what it is.

its a fungus... similar and related to athletes foot. Rub some selsun blue on before bed on the affected spots and let it dry, then wash it off in the morning.. do that until it clears up and your good.

Might very well be Sun spots though.
Both my Mother and Sister are alergic, and get similar looking spots.

Either that or you've got some deadly alien Virus that will infect the whole world in 48 hours. I'm told it only gives you 72 hours to live....

72 hours? I'd better get to then!

Thanks...I'll try the Selsun Blue!

Why do you keep looking then, hmmm?

I found out what it was...it's called tinea versicolor. It's a fungal infection, has something to do with the immune system not being able to fight off a yeast that's present in the skin. OTC anti-fungals should get rid of the discoloration, but it can take up to 6 months for the spots to go away completely.

You pick that stuff up at the gym!! Trust me on that one!
What Blofoxrider said is correct. Do that for 8 to 10 days and the spots will slowly disapear over 2 months or so.

As you can see, I haven't been to the gym in..ohhhh...6 months?

I would go to the gym more often if they put a Del Taco in there.

I truly feel sympathetic towards your “condition” but I really hate myself for opening this thread. You didn’t have to post all those pics, we would have believed you.

I picked up something similar to that when I lived in Hawaii. There they call it "Haole" rot. It's a fungus, and it'd there because you are sweating alot and the wetness next to your skin allows it to grow. The selsun blue thing works, but I would go get it in prescription form anyways.

Oh, and if it is any consolation, it would look worse if you had any tan on you.

Just a crapshoot shot in the dark here but how about a real doctor's advice? No offense to anyone, but I'm thinking if it bothers you enough to be concerned about it, I'd be making an appt just to be on the safe side, Selsun Blue or bust.
