I would expect that from kids. What really pissed me off was that the Mom was laughing too.

Default Incident on Mandeville Canyon Rd. this past weekend

Not sure if this deserves a separate thread or not, but heard about this one on KFI on the way home tonight.

Mandeville Canyon Motorist Vs. Bicycle Incident Deemed 'Road Rage'

Regarding the incident reported this morning where a one Dr. Christopher Thompson was involved in an alleged road rage incident between two bicyclists, Christian Stoehr and Ron Peterson, on Mandeville Canyon in Brentwood, there have been some updates.
"Captain Eaton, the commanding officer of the West LA station, reports that LAPD believes this was indeed a 'road rage' incident, made an arrest, and is handling the matter as a felony criminal assault, and not as a traffic collision," explained Mike Bonin, Chief of Staff for Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, in a comment that was verified this morning. "The investigation will be handled by [West Los Angeles division] Detectives, who are seeking a criminal filing. When LAPD updates us on the progress, I will be sure to share that information here."

That's pretty f'ed up. I wonder what actually happened that led up to the road rage incident. I know alot of roadies and mtb'ers use mandeville canyon road alot so be careful up there. I've never had any problems when riding up there with any of the residents. However, I hope the driver ends up in prison and the biker sues him into the poor house.

ugghh. this makes me sick. and they are accomplished cyclists as well. the specs on the accident are here.

I spend 95% of my bike time on a mtb, but I do ride on the road too, and I've been run off the road - but never by road rage. I hope that justice is served in this case.

Ron Peterson used to be my coach! He coached me to lots of first place wins in plenty of races! He's an incredible guy! An excellent cyclist and damn good looking and damn nice!!
I just heard about this today and am just so sick because of it!! We ride Mandeville Cyn. all the time. This guy sounds like a nut case! An absolute nut case!!
There was another incident recently of a guy that matches this guys description shoving a cyclist into the gutter with his side mirror and then hitting his leg and taking off.
I feel so sick about this. While I was in Downieville, a beautiful young woman I did a tour with in Italy in 2006 was killed in Tahoe in a solo bike crash. They don't know what happened and no vehicle was involved. She was a couple months pregnant and her trip in Italy was her honeymoon. We have been feeling lots of pain lately and this just adds to it. What's odd is we did a 2 week trip with them and others and it was such a tight group. Even though we didn't speak to them again, they stayed with us with special memories and they had a beautiful relationship!

So Ron is a fantastic guy! Keep him in your thoughts. Yes! we know many of you would not road bike because of this and I often question myself on the road these days. It's not like 10 years ago when I did this.Things have really changed and I see all the changes. Speeding motorcycles on the Malibu cyn roads to very distracted and frustrated drivers trying to hurry up to places they don't want to be! We as cyclists are a small community and in the end, we all relate. Believe me, there are plenty of roadies that can't mountain bike for crap and think it's dangerous and strange. Anyway, there's a lot of pain in the roadie community right now. I was going to hire Ron to get Jeanine in shape for a trip to France we have on October.
Rats! My heart aches!

Yeah it's a pity we can't all drive or ride a bike with a gun, it would save lots on bail and legal fees and make sure nobody's feelings get hurt.

As for the hazards on the road. Thats exactly why I ride the Lakes and Strand with my Fiance and any other new Road Cyclist. Traffic can be a terrible thing for new riders.
Off topic here: I have to know where you got your screen name...please.

On this case the guy on the bike almost got hit twice, first the car almost hit him and then the concrete light pole coming down after the car hit it
