Thule T2 - Backordered? Decision help..

I ordered a T2 from switchback a few weeks ago (6-9-08 to be exact) and they were out of stock. I call every week or so to get an update and today was told they didn't know when they were getting them. It must be one popular rack!!!

I was told Thule didn't have them either...

I just got back from Wheelworld and the UPS guy was there and dropped off what looked like 6 cases of water bottles (labeled on the outside as such), a couple boxes of misc stuff and 3-4 T2 racks.

I got a deal from Switchback for 282.00 and I just have to go pick it up when it comes in which is no big deal. When it will come in seems to be a mystery?

Wheelworld is selling it for 380.00 before tax and it's in stock. Same with Incycle in Pasadena, as they have 2 of them on the floor.

A. Do I wait patiently since it was a good deal and hope they get them in stock soon?

B. Do I get a refund, suck up the difference and buy it from WW or Incycle?

My bikes are getting torn up on the Thule trunk rack I have now, when there is two bikes on it.

If they said, "We don't know when we will get them" then I would definitely get my money back and go somewhere that has 'em. They might get them later today or another month or two down the road. Screw that.

Pay the extra 100 or so or order from where Patrick did, maybe even give ThePath a call and see what they can do for ya.

I can get the 2" T2's like there is no tomorrow......the problem lies in getting the 1 1/4" T2's. So far all my distributors are out as well as Thule themselves. Tried to get one the other day from the Thule rep. but they are on backorder.

I got my T2 at Cycleworld in Northridge. They price matched Rei who had them on sale for $265 last year.

Wheelworld will usually match if someone else has it in stock. Then again, maybe they have it in one of their stores locally.

I got mine from Agee's also. Great deal and was there in a bout a week.

I asked today at Sportsmart and they said they would have to order the 1.25" model as well.

I'll call them monday and get a refund. I'm sure someone has a 1.25" locally.

I went to Bike Bling last week and 1 saw 2 on the floor. Talk to Kerry and he will price match anything out there. Just email him the web link and stop by his shop in Escondido to pick it up. While you are there, he will throw in a pair of socks or two or three. He needs the business for his new shop.

I'm calling them in the morning and cancelling the order.

I went to a guy locally that said he can get it to me in a couple days from one of his suppliers. He will call me tomorrow and verify that it's on it's way.

I told him that I was told switchback was out and that thule was out according to them and he looked at me funny. He said he has two suppliers, one on both coasts and he will get it for me.

What a pain.

I have had that rack on order since you paid for the rack back in June...we have been getting all our 2" racks in but none of the 1 1/4" like we had ordered...all we were being told was it was on back order from both Thule and Quality Bike Products....I am sorry that we were not able to get you one...I am happy to hear you were able to track one down....your money has been credited back in full and once again sorry for the inconvenience.
